I guess this is related to weather...
PG&E has opted to turn our power off again.
It’s been off since 9:00pm last night.

A bit more prepared with 2 generators running now. One dedicated to a light bulb and charging my iPad so I can tell you I have no power...

 

Plug more stuff in, that generator can run more than a light bulb and an iPad

 

PG&E has been co-opted by the eco freaks. This is their way to convince you to go solar & wind.

Today a wind turbine would be handy. The rest of the year it would be a money pit.

Maybe my own solar panels and or my own wind turbine. The problem is Multiple things.
Tree huggers resist allowing the utilities to cut back foliage from their transmission lines.
The Eco nut jobs force PG&E to spend 2.2 Billion dollars a year on renewable energy, which I agree with if it’s “worthy” renewable energy, and it does not rob from proper maintenance of transmission lines.
California will not allow Coal burning energy producers into California. Since most of our power comes from coal outside of California, high wind conditions in low nu it’s areas anywhere transmission lines are opts the now Gun why utility provider to shut down during red flag warnings. The victim is the customer paying his bill on a regular basis.

When I’m in SoCal, this is the time I get totally psyched. So...charge the conditions and keep expats like Cisco, cougar and me afloat with reportage. You guys are already killing it, hammer on.

 

I was in Mojave today - I know lucky me right?. I noticed black smoke to the west of town. I thought the ridge to the west was on fire. I headed that way when I realized that it was much closer to town than I had first thought. I called 911 as I got closer and realized it was one of the huge windmills burning. Huge flaming chunks were falling to the ground.
Save the planet with a windmill and then burn the place down?

I'm in Vermont for work right now.
Its raining tonight (9:40pm ) and 70 degrees. feels like spring except for all the leaves falling.
Tomorrow the high is 46. that's a big change.

11% of our power can’t be traced back to a known source, but only 3% of the rest is coal. So we’re at most 1/7th coal.

what I find amazing is that SCE is 8% geothermal...I had no idea.

 

It was 33° in Laguna Canyon at the 73 this morning. No, really. Lowest temp I've ever seen here is 32°!

 

Lot of geothermal at the Salton Sea. Might even have an interest in the Geysers up in Sonoma.

 

Only 4% (2017)of our power comes from coal.

 

A dry rainy season is forecast for this Winter. Back to the drought we have mostly become used to. Let's start doing our part to conserve water again.

 

A couple days of rain are in the forecast for next week. Dirt should be really good next weekend. Plan accordingly.

 

Place your bets. Vegas has it at 10-1 odds that it will not rain, currently.

Cut to reporter decked out in full Columbia jacket with hood and rain paints.

"Jeff, I'm standing here in Laguna Beach where it is now a little bit breezy. Only moments ago, I witnessed leaves and small branches actually moving under the power of these winds. Yesterday, the road behind me reportedly had spontaneously appearing water spots - moisture that seemed to appear out of the air. We are told this was "rain" but we have not seen any of this alleged phenomenon since last May. People here in Laguna Beach are bracing for the worst, but nothing yet. Odd how this storm got sucked up from the tropics. The farther South you are, the better chance for measurable precip.
