Sorry - maybe a dumb Brit question here, but what's the big issue with a bit of rain? Seems to be a lot of rides getting cancelled and all because it's gonna be a bit wet out there?

In the UK pretty much 50% of the riding is in the rain. It's wet and muddy and your bike gets dirty, but it's not so bad to keep you off the bike. If no one rode in the rain there wouldn't be a lot of riding at all!

What's wrong with putting on some waterproofs and having some fun in the mud?!

And......the make up of most of the soil around here is has a lot of clay in it....so it becomes unridable in many many places.

Not to mention a lot of our trails are clay. Almost impossible to ride in with any precipitation.

There's places to ride here in the rain. San Juan trail is a blast during some rain, let's go next rain!

We just don't get a lot of it so when we do it impacts the top soil a lot different than a place that gets regular moisture. It's not that we are wussies about it, for the most part, but it's just something we deal with way less but has an impact on what we can and can't ride.

tl;rd version - We aren't a bunch of babies, we just have to be careful where we ride during/after rain so we don't mess up the trails.

Just checking out the rain gear....don't worry, I wouldn't go out in that...ahem...:whistling:

C'mon doesn't everyone have a spot or two that's so steep and exposed you can ride four or so hours after the rain stops without impairing the terrain? Mine are fun, but it's so desolate it's lonely riding there.

The long lonely climb of loneliness leads to salvation. And it takes less than four hours : )
