I have not recovered from my last flight. Even watching the TdF crash got me thinking

 

A great marketing opportunity not squandered.

I watched the first 10 seconds when Gee got pitched and then I turned it off. I lived that rag dolling thing down a mountain side and I don't want a memory refresh.

 

Won't watch. Not imagery I need in my head - EVER!

In fairness, you’re not the target market of this brand-bolstering vid.

We all set our own limits on risk. I wouldn’t call stupidity on someone skilled that pushed it a little over the edge. By that token I’m chronically stupid. Oddly enough, some people think living without taking those risks is being stupid. So maybe it’s just varying approaches to life and recreation and not really anything to do with stupidity. And – maybe – there’s a dash of projection in there. Yes, it would be stupid if you tried the line. For that guy it’s just a bad day at work. Cheers.

This sounds like I made a really good decision to NOT watch it.

 

Nah, just shows how much trauma the body can withstand and still bounce back.

 

mike's answer is a great take, but I think it's worth remembering that this is a business first and foremost to the companies we choose to support.

In this case it's Red Bull, Atherton Bikes, Continental tires, Endura, GoPro, and a bunch of others...

Over 1/4 million views in the last couple days for this video... In total the Atherton channel has over 11,000,000 views. They aren't exactly the "Catch me Outside" girl, but they are bringing in some serious ad dollars.

 

Don't watch... Unless u wanna see beautiful mountain ridge! And rag dolling down razor rocks...

Without the crash in the video, there would be maybe 1/2 as many views. People are obsessed w/ carnage. Look at the view counts on Pinkbikes Friday Fails videos, etc. We want blood and gore!

 

of course. But this one was unique in its crazyness... unique rag doll footage.. like skiing footage, not mtbkin... Gee is tuff.. easily could have died.

 

We've had this discussion...not so much anymore, in that you are correct. But getting up close and personal with 50 jet intakes and various rotor blades; eating street food in Olongapo City; getting kicked off the train at the Red Chinese border; getting lost in Pusan; off the beaten path in Singapore; and the best of them all - taking a taxi in Hong Kong.

And @Runs with Scissors - I know that you've encountered far more serious risk in your life than I have or most people who ride mt. bikes. I appreciate that. But I can still mock your approach to mt. biking if it makes me feel better to do so!!!!

Seriously though - I know it's cliche, but I truly do admire and appreciate your service - so that slobs like me can post stupid Sh!t about playing with toys!

 

I think we have had more than enough real life experiences on two wheels to subject ourselves to watching public exhibitions of pain.
