New hot deal thread, since the old one got buried.

Looks like JensonUSA got a shipment in of Geax 29x2.25 Goma and 2.2 AKA folding tires from a surplus deal. $27.99 each. They don't say, but this is a limited quantities deal, so once it's out of stock the deal is over. Excellent tire combo for fast loose-over-hardpack SoCal trails, and as a bonus they grip really well on pavement and "slickrock". Not the TNT version, but that doesn't stop people from running them tubeless on rims like Stan's. I wouldn't trust them them in deep wet stuff; I'd keep these in the dry.

Probably due to the fact that Vittoria bought out Geax last year and they are re-branding all the tires as Vittoria.
I don't like the small knobbies on the rear. Great for fireroading, but they just give up too easily on even moderately steep and loose stuff. :D

I've never used the Goma but I love the AKA as a rear tire. I've found they have great grip even with a decent amount of wear. I would buy these to replace mine right now but mine are 26"

When I was still looking at hardtails last fall, I looked at the steel Charge Cooker 4 at Performance... Even on a quick test ride, I liked the saddle. But if anyone wants to see one in person, they probably have one to see.

I may pick one of these up for my old Schwinn road bike that my son rides now.

Using Active Junky, I scored a Maxxis Ikon 27.5 x 2.8 DC/EXO/TR for $36.66 from Jensons. It was a "no package" item for $39.99, but with 6% cash back. Score!

That's what came on my Jet. Relatively light and fast for what it is.

I'm going to try it on the back, and look for a deal on a Rekon for the front. 770 grams for a rear plus tire is pretty light! The 3.0 Rangers are almost 900 grams.

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope it stands for Dual Compound.

I have had several Ardent that have had bad wobbles in them. The last one I returned after I mounted it up.

Thanks....I think the extra $17 per hoop is worth it for a little bit wider/lighter rim.....maybe. Only time will tell.

And WB only has a total of 3 rims in stock.....everything else is Out Of Stock.

Lost a signal when I tried to post...

But yes, the $50 wheels are the older EX, not the new MK3. I have a spare set of EX hoops in my garage from when I went to Crest MK3 on my XC (now Valor).

Based on how often my SLX's come loose....I won't be buying Shimano cranks anymore.

The older Shimano cranks are ok......my SLX 6000 will not stay tight for more than 2-3 rides before they loosen up.

Speaking hypothetically... If those cranks were off of a 2015 el Mariachi, I'd say they never gave a single day of trouble. And they've seen a lot of use. A lot.

Nope......the preload cap is plastic. Theoretically once you torque down the two 5mm clamp bolts, the preload cap isn't doing anything.
