The trails at Aliso and LCWP still allow mt. bikes, and the trails are still fun and chunky. I will write this every day until I can't.

I could write a bunch of good news re: bad stuff that hasn't happened, but I don't think that's your intention for this thread. That's more of the point of the "In Praise of Stasis" thread.

Let's try this. My daughter came home excited on Monday and said "Dad, I enjoyed PE for the first time today. We played soccer, and those tricks you showed me really worked!" Don't worry, soccer dads, she's not going down THAT road. She just hated PE because they played soccer and she sucked at it.

I recently relocated much closer to my work place and now get to commute via bike less than three miles each way morning and evening.

What kind of work attire do you typically wear? When I lived closer to work I wanted to commute on bike sometimes but I wear suits and ties and never understood how people make that work. I can’t stuff a suit in my Camelback and we do have commuting lockers here but not for overnight use so I can’t just leave clothes here. I live too far now anyways but I am still curious how people commute to work if they have to dress in clothes that can’t just be folded up.

I have to dress in suits some days, but many times it's just slacks and a button down and occasionally a tie. Either way, none are conducive to bike commuting. I simply bring my work clothes in on monday and leave them in my office. That usually dictates my plan for how many bike commutes i'm goign to do that week.

That's what I wear, very rarely a suit. . But I know how to fold them and get them into the backpack.

One of my jam pals insisted I foster one of his axes while I'm in CO. Of course with a headphone amp. My electric is in storage, and he knew it. I'm blown away by the gesture. :notworthy: Rosewood fretboard :inlove:

MOST (not all) of people who wish to bike commute figure out the barriers and overcome them pretty easy. Maybe driving every week/twice a week with clothes, packing them neatly, or something. It has been easy for me in the jobs where I could bike commute, but those were special circumstances. One was working the phone lines at a chain running shoe store with an on site. Currently, I work in maintenance at a factory.

During my HVACR contractor days I would notice A LOT of office buildings had a place to shower and change. Or a close by gym to do the same. I have seen guys who get their dry cleaned suits delivered to their offices. It is now a requirement for me, to find work where I can bike commute.

I don't have any specific good news. I am, in general, a pessimist and cynical. I am however pretty happy, so I guess that is close enough to good news :ninja:

i can wear shorts and a tshirt to work, with a 1 mile bike commute. And can hit trails directly after work during the longer days, and can do short rides before work since i start at 930!

Some colossal A-Hole broke into my shop yard. The good news is that he only stole a broken hi-pressure washer that I was getting ready to throw away. Better news would be if he electrocuted himself trying to get it to work. Seriously better. Ahhhh, now I fell better too. Great thread!

Polo or Button down shirt with Black Dickies of Dockers. I fold them where needed then roll them up and stuff them in a backpack. I'm a pretty sweaty guy but I was blessed with the non-stink gene so I just start my computer, grab a coffee and put my lunch in the fridge. When I've cooled down I change and start my day.
One lesson I did learn is a change of underwear too. Damp waist band is no way to start the morning.

Well the good news (keeping inline with the thread topic!) is I live too far from work and work too early to make it feasible in my current life, I’d have to leave home at like 3am to get to work and showered etc. I was curious how people do it and I am not surprised that some have a stash of clothes at the office. Thanks for all the info guys, maybe someday I’ll have a good news post about biking to work.

I do have some good selfish news, I’m off work tomorrow and even though I’ve been severely ill this week I am hoping to ride my bike.

Oh, and my daughter turns 1 on Saturday!

I have been commuting to my work at the bike shop. It is a 2.6 mile commute and luckily we have showers and shop shirts to change into. So at the beginning of the week, I bring what I need and take home what I wore that day. We also have lockers.
