I rode GE today with a funtastic group, and had a flippin' great time.

This is the second time I've ridden it; the first time was a year and half ago and the exposure kinda haunted me then. I didn't even notice it this time...

I PRed everything except the climb up off the ridge route on the fire road - I was 16 seconds off. Since it was roughly 40 degrees hotter today than in February 2016, and I stopped for a picture or two, I'm not at all surprised by this.

So coming down the last DH to the cars, where the left-hand hairpin dumps you into the rocks, I thought, no problem this is easy. I proceeded to chock my front wheel against an immobile rock, which physics says will result in an equal and opposite reaction.

I went directly OTB. Or, as @Mikie calls it, I mousetrapped.

I landed on my left shoulder, ankle and elbow, on the rocks. Thankfully the bike came through just fine.

My elbow got scraped, my left ankle hurts but works, and my left knee is feeling it. Nothing broken. Shook me up a bit, so I didn't race through the end. Still, even with the crash and hanging out for a couple minutes after, I was over 3 minutes faster on that 2.8 mile DH than I was the first time.

And thanks to @Danimal for stopping to make sure I was okay to keep going. Much appreciated!!:thumbsup:

Glad everything is ok. Came upon you right after and took a moment to realize you're covered in dirt and took a fall. It obviously rang your bell but after a moment of recovery and taking inventory, realized you're ok.
So glad you're ok and it wasn't worse.

My ankle's still a little sore, and I don't want to lean on the elbow, but it's tolerable.

Feeling the ride much more.

I mentioned to @SnakeCharmer at the end of the ride that I saw a dirty jersey in the crowd. Now I realize it was yours. Glad you're OK.

There was 3 others who were "dirty" to some extent too, from my understanding.

It was tacoed to the point it wouldn't even turn. Luckily he bent it back enough to roll down the hill. I was worried about it giving way on him, but no drama from that point on!

I saw him at the very end, at the cars. Was surprised he could ride that through the exposure above. Not much room for a wobbly wheel there.
