It got its prior name because there used to be a sign at the top stating the area was “Environmentally Sensitive” and poachers crossed out the ENVIRO from the sign. BTW, I cry a lot…especially while watching TV dramas and during meetings with HR.

It is burning at the Mariposa Grove. Fire is good for giants. You do not get little sprouts without seasonal fires. We do not like seasonal fires so we do not get little sprouts.

    6500 acres now. Sheesh.
I think I have to drive to the coast to ride.
At least the firefighters don't need permission to do what they do.

Terrible! Right after they got ahold of the Washburn fire… I was in the Yosemite Valley yesterday and the smoke and ash rolled in. No smoke and ash in our campground when I woke up this morning and hoped they put it out, but seems like the wind had just shifted for a bit. Went back to Tuolomne Meadows and could see the smoke on the way up 120. Looked bad

Brand new trails on Eli Mountain.
Down hill : 007 all 5 sections, Mary Jane , etc, at Bass Lake.
China Peak if you like park riding.

95744C13-C3BF-4F93-9F7E-DF6FE1031622.jpeg I posted in another thread about riding the Corral trail in South Lake Tahoe. Corral, Armstrong and others are in an area that burned last summer. The trees that are standing are so badly burned that they topple over in a mild wind (12 mph). These are big trees. What's my point? IT'S OPEN FOR RIDING!

    Compare to Holy Jim.

Up here as soon as the smoke settles and the area is given an all safe notification, the trail Gnomes are out and about restoring the trails.
Since there are not 1.2 million people per square mile here, the powers to be are generally good to work with.

My dogs have a specific noise they make when the spotter planes fly by. When I hear the engine noise I head outside to look for smoke.
This time he made a few passes then kept going South.

That's not exactly a spotter plane. P3 Orion fire bomber. Can carry 3000 gallons.
Usually not airborne unless it is needed to drop on a fire.
