    Well...
I can actually say "annual", since we rode it last year on New Year's Day.
This year was an imtb/OTBtrails ride as @Luis ...who is a switch hitter! Invited some of our OTB Brotherhood to join us! Awesome!

I was not exactly sure of who was going prior to, but estimated around 14 riders. We ended up with a roster of the following:

Now @rossage ... Hmmm... Rossage said he was going to be there, and he actually was. But he parked up at the actual Silver Moccasin trailhead and had already hit the trail.

The note on his van when we got to it:

We did indeed see him as he was on his way back up SM to his van. Said he had a date at a New Year's Day party with Mrs. Rossage and some guy supplying all the steak and a SHRIMP FOUNTAIN... Ross was very excited about the shrimp...

So we geared up and we hit the trail. Much warmer then last year. The Barcaloungers were STILL there from last year!

At the trailhead is a forestry outhouse so some guys hit that as the last chance to use the can prior to the ride. There we saw a white van. It looked suspicious. Since it was within our territory, we had to mark it!

Having relieved ourselves, it was singletrack time. This section of the Silver Moccasin is a slight climb with some little punchy rollers and a few tech sections of boulders. A great warm up! Then we drop on some sweet chunky technical singletrack and drop right on through to the west side of the Chilao Visitor Center. There we climbed forest service road 3N14 heading towards Pacifico, but once we hit the first pass we make a right and head up the pavement towards Mt Hillyer, and "The Wall". Now the wall is just a wall. Do not compare to the "Wall of Death" out at Golden Eagle. This is just a small section of singletrack that is super steep and loose. Some tried some didn't... none made it that I know of.

Once at the top a lot of fun begins. Sweet technical with some large boulder rollers. I didn't try anything new, but @Grego, The Trail Slayer, and Brett all did the roller that @rossage did in last years video. Nice!

Roobik on a rare occasion I saw him. he was actually behind me... (for once)

A few small spills, and one shin schmaking by some flat pedals, other then that all came out rubber side down! After the ride we made the long trek back to the 210 freeway via the Crest. There we hit up "The Habit" for some fellowship grub.
It was an awesome day on the trail... again! I plan on hosting this ride next year weather permitting.

    What a cast of characters!
    Luis!

That empty bike rack is where @Voodoo Tom 's bike was suppose to go. But he was regrettably sick and could not make it. Next time bud! Feel better fast!

On the ride invite, that was 2016. Did you ride it last new years day?

Since I'm a literal thinker, your question is hurting my head. But in doing a deep analysis of your question. We apparently did NOT ride Chilao last year but we did in 2016, so we missed this last year. What confuses me is it does not seem like 2 years ago!
I see that "dates" are very important to you. Have you been on a lot of dates? Or do you prefer figs? :sneaky:

Time is flying by....... Evidence of aging. And please try not analyze things too deeply, you might pull a muscle, I mean gray matter :Roflmao.

Oh and I am all for the "annual" chilao ride..

I would go back to that ride on a heart beat. A lot of techy fun for minimal climbing. Has anyone put this ride on trail forks or mtb project? I would like to do it again but do not think I could remember the route. I do not have a garmin.

Here’s all the three pics I took. Was having too much fun riding ;)

As always it’s an absolute blast riding Chilao. So many ways to loop and connect trails but like TTB mentioned, this was the way to do it with minimal climbing and enjoying the tech highlights of the area.
I enjoyed seeing the stoke on the first timers faces. Heck, everyone had ear to ear grins at one point or another

Great ride! As @Tom the Bomb said I would do this in a heart beat again too. 2x Hillyer and SM was a blast. Maybe even 3x as @Luis suggested. Moderate climbing and techy descents. Witnessed 4 crashes and lost of dabbing. I laid the bike down too once around a left chunky switchback. Found some good lines I had forgotten. The wall got us this time, too loose. Chilao rocks!
