I seen a lot of these on trails and it scares me everytime. Then I get to fix them.

It's easy to work on most high-end bikes. It takes skills to make a POS work. Skills and hammer!

It really does take skill to fix them. You have irregular parts and it usually costs more to fix them than it was new. A big 10 lb sledge always helps.

Remember the old Mountain Bike Action bike shoot outs they used to have?
A former staffer told me they tried to do one with department store bikes. They called it off after several bikes broke and one of the test riders separated his shoulder.

Okay, now the dude needs to have some more fun and try to return it to Wal Mart telling them he only used it once and it totally fell apart!

"I had no choice but to commit to the jumps. I even started clearing a few."

I've never been that great at jumping but I think I'll remove my brakes before my next Snow Summit trip.

Haha good stuff. One of my nephews had a walmart one and bent the BB axle in about a week doing little jumps. I put an old XTR square taper BB and cranks on it (they fit, but the chainline was a little out of whack, but it dropped a couple pounds off the bike). I told him if he ever throws that bike in the trash to let me pull the cranks off because they're worth more than the rest of the bike.

That guy had a very unusual accent - and big, gigantic brass balls. I can't imagine flying on a bike with loose handlebars and no brakes. People have died when the front of their bike failed. I am not exaggerating.
