This morning my glasses fogged up as it was ~46 degrees outside. It was basically direct sunlight on the descent. Not a good situation. How critical is hydrophobic and how effective are they for the price point damage?

    I've actually tied this. LOL.
I found it leaves a film and kinda smudges the lenses.

I was suspicious at best. We don't get nocturnal or polarized stock. Can't hear as far or well as other animals. Sucks.

Oakley's Asian Fit design is no gimmick, I've found. I probably would be wearing full face and googles still, even for XC, if I didn't discover how well it worked. I can even run in them without needing to push them back up every few minutes. Goggles still offer nicer field of vision.

Doesn't help out Rossage, but just putting that FYI out in case anyone doesn't have much of a nose bridge and don't want the frame of their glasses touching their cheeks, brows, temples, etc.

Wouldn't be Imtb if the thread didn't go off the rails into various directions and promote unasked questions.

    Hydrophobic-start your own thread
    Anti-fog waxers-start your own thread
    Asian fit-start your own thread

Thanks for your sage advice, one and all. I think I will now go bang my head against a wall until I figure out why I even asked the question.

    What was the question?

reminds me of a time I took a dive boat to Catalina and we boarded at midnight, it takes 6 hours to
get there from Dana Point (s l o w). The galley was open so we drank beer all night. They teach you to
puke into your regulator/mouthpiece or you'll die, I got my practice in...

did that answer your question? :)

At least you received what was expected! But isn't half the fun of being on iMtbTrails is to see where a thread goes and how it gets there? I love it!
If all I wanted was "the facts, and nothing but the facts" I'd just search it online and not come here.
Just ask your group of friends ( us o_O) something and see WTH it ends up! haha...

So to answer your question, um uh, What was the question????

"Any Input".... Last pair I got (Rx) I paid an extra $30 for 'extra coverage' plan. I usually never do add on warranties, but it covered "anything that happens" to your glasses... not sure if it was for one or two years. But sure enough, I got a big scratch on the lens, took them in and they put new Rx lenses in for a very small charge.

BTW, "anything that happens" does not include loosing them when jumping off a boat into a lake (like I did once) or while taking a helicopter ride, etc. But crushed lenses, broken frames, as long as you can bring the remnants in to show them...

    Love my Rx Oakleys.
Best lenses I have ever had. No distortion with the curve.
I resisted them for a long time. Now they are all I want.

I use a product on my lenses similar to Rain-X. They don't seem to fog up as much in cold weather, and dust doesn't stick to the lenses as much. I finish the ride, and they look clean.

My last couple pairs have been Bolle Draft, with the Eaglevision 2 lenses. They're not the coolest looking glasses, but I REALLY like the light amber color. It's dark enough for bright days, and light enough for late afternoons. The best part is that they don't make me go blind when riding fast from bright conditions into the shade.

Those are the Oakley prism lenses. Make 3 types I think. Road, trail or golf specific things.
This thread also made me notice that I've had my radars for about 10 years. Think it may be time for new MTB shades. Those prism are at the top of the list.

So, I finally bought Smith sunglasses. I really just wanted something different. I got the PivLock Arena Max. Some colors were on sale at Competitive Cyclist. I got mine for $80. Regular price is $160.
The glasses came in a usable case, with two extra lenses, and the infamous lens cleaning cloth.
I've been on several rides with the glasses and my impressions so far are very good.
Even with the large lenses, these things are light. I never felt any pressure from the temples or the adjustable nose piece. The frameless design makes these glasses disappear on my face.
The coverage is awesome! No water, grit, or wind has gotten to my eyes yet. The lenses barely fogged near the nose piece during a cold hard climb. They have a hydrophobic coating and any sweat drips rolled down and out of my vision quickly.
Lens changes are quick and easy. The temples pivot and lock into and out of the corner of the lenses. The nose piece pops in and just like Oakley.
Durability will have to be assesed over time, but they seem well-built and have a good warranty.
    Pics soon.

uvex at performance is the chit! tried Oakleys and Tifosi then put on the uvex polarized and could not believe the difference in clarity and lack of distortion. I tried to put my face through the side of a mountain on sart couple years ago ( see pic at rt. ) put a gouge in one of the lenses, saved my eye. Went back to performance and to my delight replaced for freeeeeeee! Life time warrantee! Saweeeeeeeet! triple lens set too.

My Oakley lenses have deteriorated for no apparent reason. I do not use chemical to clean them. It costs $80 to $100 per set to replace them. Uh, no.

I just bought some Tifosi glasses with three lenses for $70 at REI. They don't match any of my jerseys, my bike or my helmet, and I don't care.

Last set of Tifosi I had lasted just as long as the Oakleys. So you can all look forward to a selfie of me in my red-framed cheap sunglasses smiling a knowing smile.
