Yes the rumors are true, this is a classic loop in the San Gabes. Fire road climb to some awesome single track with moderate exposure.
Lots of thrills, chills and hopefully no spills.

Possible Bail-Outs: After climbing Josephine FR there are no bailouts. You can come back down Josephine but then the ride would be called Josephine up and down. Besides, I've never let anyone bailout hahaha
Facilities: Stinky ass restroom at Clear Creek and Switzers. Water at Redbox.
Food/water suggestions: Bring whatever gives you the warm fuzzies inside. I usually travel light for this one.

Actually, I started early because I had to work. I did a conga line of hellos and nice to see yous at Clear Creek and went on my way. I thought for sure some of the fast guys like Scott would catch me but they never did. Must have had a lot of stops to take pictures ha ha!
There was a new tree down on the Gabe but OTB had enough manpower, maybe it's been pushed over the edge. Strawberry is in excellent condition right now...

Sunday Riders!

 

Josh and stood and broke up the smaller of the double downed trees along the Gab. I was traveling without a pack so I didn’t have my handsaw with me.

 

Oh and in case you were wondering there were a couple of spills along the way.

Andrés took this picture while rescuing his friend Randy. He went over the edge somewhere on the backside of the loop.


Josh did a slomo OTB at the waterfall section right in front of me and landed in the rocks. Just a couple of scratches and scrapes but the amazing part was that he managed to hold his bike upright with one arm! Didn’t get a shot of that because the conga line was fast on our heels on that narrow section.

 

I crashed on the waterfall last Thursday...That drop has my number lately. Probably contributed to the demise of my 785 brake lever. Tried it again yesterday and lost momentum at the black rock. Curses! Foiled again! I will get you Black Rock!

 

It was mostly all smiles throughout though. Even though the pace was a little faster than moderate
