I bought my Intense Tracer 275c, DVO Edition in February of 2016. In 5 months, the Stan's HD 3.30 rear hub failed catastrophically (mechanically speaking). I sent the wheel back to Stan's (at my expense) and they laced my rim to a new Stan's Neo. Yay - except, everything I read about Stan's Neo is that they break.
Sure enough. First, the bearings went south about two months ago. OK, replaced them at my expense. Then, when changing my rotor last Sunday, I notice a broken spoke. Hmmm, ok.
Took it to Laguna Cyclery. Terry calls me yesterday "Yeah, Herz, your axle is broken..." F##kin' POS.
As I mentioned in another thread, Stan's hubs are completely reliable - you can BET that they will fail. They should not be allowed to have this product on the market. Soooooo many reports of failed Stan's hubs.
By contrast, my DT Swiss 240s required one star ratchet change in the 10 years I owned them ($50 - tool free change). No bad bearings. No broken hub body. No broken axle. I was younger and rode more often then too. They were still going strong when I sold my bike in 2016.
I am guessing Stan's will replace them for free, as they should, but I am also sure they will replace them with another inferior product that will break within a year. I hope they've made the necessary improvements.
Grrrrrr....
