Help needed, anyone know what this flower is? Couldn’t find them in my mini-guide.

These were scattered all across meadows about 7000 ft along the Wildcat Canyon Trail on the Kolob Terrace Plateau in Zion NP.

    Thanks!

EDIT: found it - Showy Lewisia (Lewisia brachycalyx)

This is sort of cheating. These are growing out in front of Descanso Gardens, which is adjacent to the San Raphael Hills, so... :whistling:

Legal disclosure: These images do not originate from an actual bike ride even though I have ridden in the areas where they were encountered.

Earlier this month we were riding in the Utah high desert where spring comes late, and it was amazing to see the adaptations to such a dry climate. Some pics of the more prominent blooms:

Globe Mallow is well adapted to dry, sandy areas

Prince’s Plume seems to favor rocky locations

Shrubs were flowering while they could -

Cliffrose flowers have a strong and distinctive fragrance

Not much in the way of summer blooms in SoCal. I'm sure there are some.

Its not exactly Spring but with the monsoon rain this Summer in the High Desert, there has been a small surge of wildflower activity.
