So I Bought This Cargo Trailer...

My run up to Salt Lake City was to purchase a 30 foot Cargo Trailer from a salvage yard. It was some kind of video gaming trailer that booked for events and parties. I had no idea what I was getting into. Was for sale for $4500 bucks and I was tempted to buy it then, but then they dropped the price a thousand bucks to $3500. 30 foot trailers at best have been selling for $7500 to $12,000 even used.

I knew it was probably a beater. Even in the pics it looked beat.
Left on Sunday around 9:30am and drove nonstop to Woods Cross Utah just north of SLC and arrived at 10:30 that night. The yard is only open 8:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday.
Slept in my truck in a Hospital parking lot. At 8:00am I arrived at the yard.
It was sitting right up front with a graphic matching Pick-up Truck right in front of it. Turns out it was close to repo so they just surrendered it to the bank and it ended up here.

Although the pics showed a tongue jack it had none, it’s not actually 30 foot, it’s 26 feet but 30 if you include the tongue. It had 3 bald tires and no spare even though they told me it did. The electrical cable that connects to the truck was fried, I mean literally melted plastic with charred wires exposed about 2 feet from the plug I connect to the truck. Several compartments had locks with no keys. Hmmm. I called the rep who is in another state and chewed her out for lying to me. She stated the account was dumped on her. Blah blah blah...

I drove 11 hours and had another 11 to get home, what to do...? What to do?

I called Cathy and had her do the wire transfer.
While I waited for that to process, I spliced the trailer light cable. Flipped a wheel some dumbazz actually installed backwards. They even turned the lug nuts to the flat side to be able to bolt to the brake hub. Say what?

I took my Joe Blow bike pump and pumped up 3 almost flat tires to 50 psi. That was a work out!
Signed the docs and drove 6 minutes to a RV Trailer service shop and had them repack the wheel bearings. One hub was bad and was spinning a race so replaced it. Walked over to Tractor Supply across the street while that was going on and picked up a tongue Jack. Then drove to a tire shop and replaced all 4 tires with 8 ply, bought a rim and took the best tire and made it a spare. Took all day... Left SLC at 5:00 pm and drove all night home. Got home at 4:00am slept until 7:00am. Worked from home for several hours. Then finished up roofing the front of my front porch. Long azz day.

So I cut the locks off some weird custom compartments and really took a look inside. There are four boom box speaker sets. Each with duo 12 inch speakers. Probably over a thousand dollars worth of HDMI and fiber optic cables. Several Computer Cooling fan boxes, and when I got into a big outside compartment, low and behold there is a Sharp 60 inch High Def Flat screen mounted so bystanders can spectate the video activity goin on inside. The whole inside is black felt and carpeted with benches and play stations. Even an XBox WiFi controller. Crazy!
Oh and you may have noticed, it has two A/C units on the roof...

Why yes they do. The trailer is wired for 110v. (220, 221... whatever it takes.)

 

Now for the bad news. All of that stuff is getting stripped out so it can actually be a... cargo trailer.

 

Seems like a one way u haul rental would have been a cheaper and easier option. ???

 

I got to store everything for about 10 months before the haul.

 

I was just thinking, maybe I can strap a pair of the speakers to my Camelbak. Just so the ride isn't so.....quiet.....Metallica would do nicely.

 

We gotta hot box that thing at least once before you strip it!

Oh, definitely not!!! There's other bodily fluids in the water surrounding our houseboat every year and there's even been another type of solid added to the mix in some of the past years.
