Ha, haven't seen that in awhile but still a good guide to being a park rat. I used to be a snow park rat back in the day but retired to poseur status now. Hold my beer while I try to act young again.

Is a minion DHF 2.5 too much for the rear if I am running the same upfront? Debating between a 2.3 or 2.5 in back for tomorrow. The 2.5 I have is in a little better shape than the 2.3.

I would run the 2.5 myself. I am running a DHF/DHR II combo. Both are 2.8s.

Put the 2.5 on last night, it was flat this morning but the valve was just tweaked so all was good. My RIP was a blast at Summit!

I met a fellow member (@Ricekrispyota, nice meeting you guys!) and his son in the lift line on my first run and took a warm up run with them and then rode up another lift and down with them again on Turtle Trail. I was impressed with his son's skills, hopefully my boy wants to do some park riding when he is bigger! He even had a little biff on turtle but didn't even phase him.

The lift line got a little long but not too bad, they were supposed to have 2 lifts open but something was up with chair 2. I had limited time to ride since my wife dropped me off and took my son to the Zoo while I rode, still worth it. Got the itch to do some more trips up there this summer.

    It's beer o'clock!

Anybody wanna do Summit this Friday, July 14? I could use somebody to pick me up after I crash trying to fly. I'll drive up, and if I stay in one piece, I'll drive home too.

Anybody have a report on the new Turtle Trail? I'm thinking about heading up there next week with my kid.

On a somewhat related note ... anyone know what's up with Skypark Santa's Village? I thought their bike park was going to open this summer, and we're halfway through it.

Santa's Village Skypark has/had permit stuff to deal with. Not sure the status..

Turtle trail - I had fun on it, nothing too technical but a left turn with a root in it that could trip up some riders who don't carry speed and a couple of steepish whoopty type parts. Just google Turtle Trail Snow Summit 2017 and there will be some recent YouTube videos to check it out on as well.

Santa's village permit was approved on Tuesday. If I'm not mistaken, the trails were supposed to be open today. Call them up. They are very friendly folks.

I am going to have to bail on my own ride here. I suddenly have some professional matters to attend to in town tomorrow. I'll ride locally in the early am.

I've heard it's 29$ just to get in!?!? They should Have a separate price if all you want to do is ride. Trails seem nice...... There's no lift service with entry, but climbing isn't an issue.

Entry is free, if you want to do anything besides spectating, you have to buy a wrist band. They had an early bird season pass at $75 but if you're not local, that might not still be a deal.

Yes. $29 for adults and $19 for kids. That includes everything in the park except food. Rock climbing, indoor bouldering, fishing, hiking, zip lining, archery, ice/roller skating, pedal carts, trampoline bungee jump, and R/C cars as well as a strider park for littl 'uns. The park is definitely geared more toward kids, and I agree, that it would be nice to have a separate price just for pedaling. I got my son and I season passes for $99 each a couple weeks ago. If I go four times, its paid for itself, plus when he gets tired of pedaling we can do something different.

They have Intense and Rocky Mountain demos there. Ill be honest, if you are looking for super technical terrain and huge jumps, its not the place to go. The jump line is cool and built nicely for those learning to catch some air (i.e. ME), but no where near as big as the stuff on Miracle Mile and Party Wave at summit The flow trail (Sleigh Ride) is a blast. Comet is pretty technical, north shore style stuff. Arrow is a little bit of everything and is really fun The trails aren't very long-everything but Comet is 2-3 minutes to the bottom. All of the trails drop you back off at the parking lot, so carrying water or tools isn't necessary as you can just leave it in your car and grab it as you pass by. The climb to the top is less than a mile and all of the trails leave from there.

They have a couple small skills areas with ladder bridges, teeter totters, log rides and such, all between 1' and 4' off the ground. I'm not tied to anyone there, but for me being an old guy who's slow and doesn't jump, its definitely not as intimidating as Summit stuff (though I do try and hit that, but always end up casing the landings).

I think that in reality, your $29 goes mainly to cover the insurance should you get hurt in the park and a portion of it covers trail maintenance. Bottom line is to treat it like a first date. Try it out. If it ain't your thing, your only out $29 and can look elsewhere. Just my two cents.

Heading up to SS the 1st. Escorting some semi-new riders so will be a mild pace and probably some sessioning if anyone is going.

Rode 10ply opening weekend. It was pretty good. I think once it gets burned in a little more it will be better. Definitely has a different feel than the other trails. Just an FYI, right out the gate there's a little natural step down, either pedal and full send or slow down enough...:whistling:
