Oh MAN! I'm sitting here trying to be proactive racking my brain on where to ride when Cathy blurts out the suggestion.... Big Bear! Ding! Light bulb above the head!

Nothing more destination then hitting up a Skyline ride close enough for a bunch of us to hit from several homesteads. An out and back on Skyline is just what the doctor orders for hot weather in the valleys and desert. Come and get some of that with me.

Meet Location: North edge of the Snow Summit parking lot close to the entrance road.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Ride Pace: Moderate Pace
Type of Ride: Out and Back

Anticipated Mileage: 30 miles
Elevation Gain: 3500 maybe
Ride Duration: 4 hours of ride time

Possible Bail-Outs: Throughout the ride are several connection points to the 2N10 access road.
Facilities: Public water and bathrooms at the parking lot
Food/water suggestions: I almost always carry 100 oz. Camelbak and a 24 oz. water bottle. I use tailwinds and carry a couple food bars and a bag of mixed nuts, and when I say "mixed nuts" I mean @rossage.

I meant roll(carpool) from my house departing at 5:45am assuming about a 2-1/2 hour drive from here.

My wife was thinking about a daytrip somewhere to ride next weekend

 

The trail rides very differently in the reverse direction, especially the section on the east end - so it rides more like a really big loop. Much better than riding Town Trail.

 

Let see if I can get my boy to work for me.

 

It's Big Bear! With multiple options! We can strategize the fun....

Oh no, you forgot to fill out the rider limit...

 

My son and I will be up there and riding, but probably taking the route shown above. We are a little more casual, and this route can have some scrambling over downed trees, and a stop to ponder the view, and eat lunch out in the Siberia Creek area. There is also a short section by Bluff Lake that eliminates doubling back to 2N11 that requires walking along the lake for about a 1/2 mile. All part of the adventure for us. Maybe we'll see y'all out there. I'll be the yeti/sloth-like creature making an XL Trek Stache 9 look like a 20" HotRock (special emphasis on the word creature)

Jennifer and I are definitely in however we will have to leave the area by 2. I think that gives us plenty of time to get a good ride in.
