I didn’t mention anything around Mt. Wilson due to anticipated tree falls mucking up the flow.

With the amount of rain we've gotten so far and the amount that is forecasted it will be several days before anything in the Santa Monicas is ridable.

    Strawberry today, after the rains.

Gate to Switzers is closed due to Russian collusion

Fireroad up to Josephine is in great shape. Start to get encroaching bushes and fresh rockfall after Colby.
First up are debris flows blocking the trail by the exposed section with the metal supports.
Then come the downed trees. Sorry boys and girls but, They're baaaaack! Multiple downers requiring limbo, gymnastics, and route-finding.
No snow or ice but everything is wet. Streams are going that haven't run in years. I had to stop and listen to the rushing waters.
Climb out of the Potrero and over to Red Box is nice.
From Red Box down to Switzers is jumping trees and knee-deep streams. And the man-eating rut is back...
Still a great ride, just a little bit more work.

8 trees down in 2.5 miles of Valley Forge trail. Time to start carrying my saw...
    Still a great ride.

Monroe is a mess. The bottom is still a stream. Wasn't exactly sure where the trail went despite having been there so often.... Shine side trails that are appearing to get around the stream bed. The bed itself is a rock fest,

The trail gnomes have been at work chatting the rock falls from the stream up to mystic trail junction, it's in great shape there.

Above that, rideable, but lots of bike eating ruts. Some with soft edges to try to send you otb....

Valley Forge is clear so today was Strawberry's turn. One folding saw and two nuts got the job done...
Cutting trees, smoking trees, and riding thru trees.

Still a few big ones to get around, especially on the Gabrielino section.
    It's a work in progress...

The gate is open and Chantry-Zion is ready to ride. Lots of new rockfall but lots of the downed trees are gone.
One of my favorite spots got hammered by a debris flow but Gaia does what she wants so I can't be mad...

    Brown-KB-El P in the rain...
Lots of rockfall and debris flow. New ruts and deeper old ones. Couple of trees down near the start of El P. Easy go over.

Snow just above the Brown saddle, all the way up to KB. Epic!

Stayed warm and dry, down into the mid-thirties

    Get some!

Strawberry is awash with shivering timbers. Lots of trees down. Ruts, rocks, roots, lions, tigers and bears. Ice and snow is at its worst just before the switchbacks coming out of the Potrero.
Gabrielino is wet and treed... Going to be a awhile till this mess gets cleaned up.
    Still had fun. 8.5/10
    Would ride again.

The 2 Hwy is closed between the Wilson Rd and Upper Big Tujunga Rd. Must be a slide or washout...
You can get to Chilao but you have to drive through Big Tujunga Cyn. Probably cost you about 20 minutes drive time.
Follow the signs at Clear Creek

Rode Brown-Fern-Chaney-Sunset-El P with @Luis and the OTB crew.
The smack talk was off the charts.
Chaney is still the worst climb in the Angeles. Paved, steep, and when you turn the corner looking for relief you get steeper!
Sunset and El P are in post-storm excellent condition. No snow...

Can't get enough Chantry right now. Zion too. Excellent conditions with deep stream crossings. The large tree on the drop to Sturdivant is finally cut but still requires a dismount.
    Get some!

From the upper lot, UWC to Zion trail. Up the switchbacks, over to Sturdivant. Take the Gabrielino back to Chantry

You pass by the trail to the falls on the way down the Gabrielino.

I am willing to go out to Chantry just about any weekday morning.
There's rides out there from less than an hour to half day adventures. Low mileage but harder than the numbers say.
Technical with sections where the penalty for failure is high.
    Get some!

Hoping to make it up there a few mornings per week once the school year ends, since it's only a few miles from my house. I've only been around the upper and lower winter Creek, so just looking into ways to mix it up. Looks like an easy spot to add variety. Last time I was there I meet a couple guys who did upper wc, lower wc, up Gabrieleno, down Zion and out upper wc.
