Apparently my vimeo account is about tapped for this week and I don't feel like spending any more money for the service so this is just a snippet of the day 3 action. The full day 3 video will be LOONNNG cause there was just too much good stuff.

Day 3 video on UPS-LPS-Porcupine Rim. My original video wouldn't upload since my Vimeo acct was almost out of weekly upload space so I shrunk it up a bit. Alex calls day 3 the climbing day and there is a solid 17 mile 3600+ft grind but then the payoff is a short shuttle ride and a 21 mile descent on some absolutely world class trails.

Exactly, great fun & plenty of places to die.... Not the nice rounded rocks like up at the top, the lower ones are sharper, chunkier, more technical(er) and looking to bite you.

Great job on the videos @Faust29 and @Voodoo Tom they really give folks who have not been on this ride a good idea what it is like, other than @Mikie casual pace with PRs everyday on Strava...just sayin. LOL Next year I will be ready for the casual pace!!!

Now I know we make the wrong decision at that point.
Personally, I was riding in some sort of pain for 3 days straight and wanted to avoid compounding it (by getting over my head).
The ride out of LPS was cool, but the dirt road just sucked!

You could have benefited from lowering your tire pressures. When I loaded it in truck I thought, WOW...those things are rock hard.

I didn't check tire pressure the whole trip.
I inflated it using the mechanic's pump with a 0-160psi gauge.
I thought that I was in the 25-30 range.

I used new tires and wheelset this trip. no real reference.

I'll check the pressure when I get home.

I had my rear Rekon 2.4 on 30mm rim down at about 20 lbs...:my DHF 2.3 on 30mm rim was at about 18.

Just curious...what is the point of a short shuttle ride after making you guys climb 17 miles? Why not just finish it, or shuttle the whole thing??

Unlike the shuttle on day 2, the shuttle on day 3 wasn't short... It was up a brand new paved road to the top of Porcupine, and would have added several thousand more feet.

Day 3: Mine will be different than Tom's. A few of us took the bailout after Upper Porcupine. Well... We took the bailout after we did over a mile of Lower Porcupine, and realized we missed the turn. It was a fun back track...

And Sand Flats Road is quite the misleading moniker...

I also included some of the morning stuff. Partly to show what the whole day was like, and partly as a guide for my future self if I do this again.

Kill me now. That was so mental!

Based on the new paved winding road with no bike lane or shoulder, it would not have been safe to send us up that road.
