I am so pleasantly surprise how this turned out today.
24 mountain bikers in our group! We had folks show from outside the forum as well.
Yeah there was a couple scuffs and bumps, but there were no mechanical's and for as big as the group was it had great flow!
    You know the drill!

Post it up. Share your experience, drop some epic pics of the ride. Talk some fashizzle. There is some fashizzle to be had...
I am so very proud of all of you!

    Fantastic day in the saddle!

I’m wiped out! That was truly an awesome awesome ride, wish I could do that every week:inlove:
Great(as usual) peeps, beautiful scenery, super fun downhill with some sketchy “oh shite” chunk, ending with a soak in the Kern River, then grub and smack talk at the brewery.....DOES IT GET ANY FREAKING BETTER THAN THAT?!!:inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

Wiped out is right. But I need a round two to get all the pics I didn't take today. I hate that I had to skip out on the after party, but it was the right move. Odd, but super fun day for me. Some sections I felt pretty strong on, and others I felt like a fish out of water. Bring on the chunk, but the gravelly sandy looseness is definitely my kryptonite. Final ejection tally was 5, 4 of which came from overcooking turns and losing the front tire, but I managed to get a foot down and avoid catastrophe each time. I was never so happy to see a climb as I was when I got to the short climb before the first gate at the bottom. Mostly though, just a rad time with rad people. Bikes are fun, and some days they're funerer than others.

Amazing ride... my first time up there, and wow! Never knew all these fantastic miles of awesome trail existed. I got out of my comfort zone, and made the drive up Friday afternoon. Along with half of California, turning it into nearly a four hour drive :-/ But sooooo worth it to get an amazing camping spot by the river:
    48696926726_a70435855a_b.jpg
@Pro_Leisure was looking for a place to call home, and he was able to wedge in and share the spot. Great times, hanging out and talking under the stars.
Early up the next morning, getting some breakfast @ Cheryl's. Managed to find a parking spot at the outfitters, and head up to the mountains!
And it was AMAZING up there. Alpine meadows, hero dirt, streams, ferns, cabins, Journey fans, dropped phones, and fast motos.

I had a pretty hard fall early on. Nothing broken, but loss of skin and bruised up a bit.
    48696583498_ccd98368d9_b.jpg

Shook it off, and then really took my time on the rest of it. I mentioned to @buggravy that I'm kinda' freaked out sandy DG turns, so mentally had to deal with that. I think I liked the stuff up top the best, particularly the trail after the cabin. But enjoyed the rest of it as well... a great ride!

We finally managed to get separated... not on the trail, but at the brewpub! Need to work on that communication for the next trip!

Magic time out there! Thanks for putting this together, and to everyone who made the drive up there! Can't think of a better way to enjoy it!

Oops... Not enough coffee. I posted these in the trailhead thread by mistake. Maybe it's the headache from whacking my head on a branch. o_O Could be that double IPA, also... Thankfully @horsebikerider offered to make the drive home, so I could indulge a little. :whistling:

Moving slowly this morning... And trying to remember where I stowed the GoPro. :Roflmao

Though I'd welcome the cold, there could easily be some snow up top too. Pretty sure that's Mammoth's opening weekend.

Just throwing this out there, but a lot of schools are closed on 9/30.

I got most everyone to look... except @Mikie and Vince. I think that was part of the pre-plunge stare down strategy. Never break eye contact.:cautious::cautious:

I would have taken more but it would have just been pictures of a bunch of backsides anyway :whistling:
As I was sweeping our group throughout the ride I got to hang out with Alex, David, Eric, and Matt who were following at a distance.
They were afraid with the size our group, we would experience a couple of mechanicals at least. But that never happened :) seems like the new to Cannell riders took the advice to prep their bikes properly

Of all the times I’ve ridden this trail, the conditions on this ride were stellar. Dust free and tacky at the beginning and the chunky sections were extra chunky ;)

Left Fullerton at 3:30am. Was passed on the 5 freeway by a black truck loaded with bikes. Hmmm, who could that be? My 5.0 would reel them in later. Breakfast at Cheryl's, thanks@horsebikerider for picking up our tab. The pancakes are huge. Checked in at the shuttle. Parking lot was overflowing with adventures seekers. 3 full vans with trailers. @DangerDirtyD and I took the last seat in the last shuttle with room to spare.

Group pic at the top and we we off. Long conga line for sure. Hero dirt so far. We chugged along. I was a little disappointed no one stopped for the tree stump jump. Next time? The steep climb had just about everyone walking here and there. Seemed to go by more quickly for me this time, maybe because I knew what to expect. Down the first chunky section was a nice reward for that climb. Someone would lay the bike down right in front of me but nothing serious. For me the chunk felt a little more smooth than two years ago. Maybe again because I knew what to expect. Up the fire road, tech talk with @mtnbikej. Down the second chunky ST. Working the suspension. @mtnbikej on my wheel as I tried to keep up with Vince and @Mikie . Regroup at the cabin. Vince say's his front brake is gone. Checked it out and found brake fluid leaking around his lever. I topped it off and got the brake back. All I could do for now.

Over to the plunge. @Mikie and Vince would hammer first. The rest of us just kept looking at each other. We finally poured in. I followed @Voodoo Tom and @UPSed until after the wall climb. Then I just kept going while the rest regrouped? Let go of the brakes for a bit. Almost crashed while stuck in a soft long rut. Tri-potted out. Reeled in a slower rider. Took some time to pass. Opened the speed up again , then the WFO's chain came off. Did I ever get that chainguide? Stopped to place it back on. Blasting down towards the bottom and not fully knowing the trail, I took the strava line at the switchback. Stopped to go back up thinking it was the wrong way out. Walked back up to the switchback and of course ended up just eating time. Still a great run down. Got my previous pathetic 48 minute run down to a 35:50 even with the mishaps. Never got a glance of the views though. My eyes were focused on the trail to whole way down. Great time riding with you all. Well worth getting up early.

Lunch afterwards with half the gang was cool. Bummer we all weren't all at the same place. Who knew the brewery had two locations? Thank to @Faust29 for picking up our tab. Drove home from there. Sorry no pic's. Too stoked all day.

Speaking of which, I too partook a bit too much in the after ride brewha's and the old Watson came out. I don't like him. I'm confident I said and did a few inappropriate things :whistling: and I want to apologize. Nuff said. He won't be back...
