Just a short report on a ride from a while back. We told Mikie about Rosamond while riding P-12 and he was curious. So, here you go @Mikie - and anyone else who might be curious. Rosamond is very different from our normal P-12 trails. Lots of rocks and more rocks. Tough riding conditions with loose, crumbling rock over solid. Tough on tires and body parts. Other world type areas with trails given descriptive names like "Escape From the Red Planet". The trail builders have been active so we headed up to sample a few new lines. Looking South East with San Gabes in the far background. Dry lake bed can be seen to the left and the streets of Rosamond below. Willow Springs Raceway is just a few miles to the West of here. Resting after one of the tough climbs. Notice the volcanic rock formations in the background. The loose crumbling rocks make things interesting at speed and make riding off camber trails pucker inducing. Dropping in to "Trial N Terror". The solid rock garden below has lots of tire traps waiting to swallow your front tire. OTB anyone? Checking out a tight left into a steep slippery dust-over-rock chute. The other guys rode it but I decided to keep my skin in tact. Next time. Nice wooden feature that winds through the rocks. Lots of rocky riding from here to the bottom of the trail, including a tight rock drop, but we didn't take any more pics. We also rode "Two Miles of Fun" , a two mile climb with lots of challenging switchbacks. Rosamond is a fun area to work on your skills and ride something a little different. Pad up and give it a shot. I almost made it out unscathed but I clipped my bar end on a trail side rock formation and left some skin behind.
