This one is on my bucket list, but I have no idea if I'll ever be in good enough shape to do it. I really, really, really want to.

    https://www.tourofcalifornia.org/2008/06/climb-to-kaiser.html

Clovis to Kaiser Pass. 155 miles, 13K feet of climbing. Or so. I've spent much time in that area, but not on a bike. I must do this eventually. Somehow. Some way.

It looks like you just need to survive the first 80 miles... There are only a few short climbs on the 2nd half! Come on, you can do it!

And another one...I don't see it on Strava, and Google Maps won't map it.

Angeles Crest Highway (Hwy 2) from La Cañada-Flintridge to Hwy 138 below Wrightwood. Roughly 66 miles, unknown but huge elevation gain.

Hwy 2 is currently closed south/east of Islip Saddle (Hwy 39) due to rock/mud slides.

    Someday...

I may have misread the thread title. I thought it said "riders I want to do..."

I have to admit that I liked both of your posts. But, I clicked on Herz's a good 5 minutes before yours, RWS... :whistling:

It's apparently ridable though. I hiked Baden-Powell from Vincent Gap and a saw a group riding down, they were doing a loop up 39, east on ACH to Wrightwood, back around through Cucamonga. They said it was about 106 miles. My bucket ride is to loop up 39, west/south on ACH through Pasadena, probably also around the 100 mile mark but I would think with more elevation.

The ultimate tent pole ride on my list in California. Not for 2016 but I'm working on being ready for 2017.

This one may be possible for me since the top of the ride is under 9,000 ft. But man it's a boatload of climbing. :bang::bang::thumbsup:

Big Pine/Glacier Lodge is a good one. So's Rock Creek (the paved road to the very end). Tioga Pass is gorgeous and a great climb from the Lee Vining side. Cruising all the way to Olmsted Point and then back was one of my all time favorites. Lots to ride up there!

They used to have a ride called The Son of Deathride and it started by the Johnsondale bridge over Sherman Pass into the Mojave and back. Don't know if They Do it anymore.

I don't know the area, but a possible loop looks cool. 395 to Johnsondale, down to Kernville, then back to 395 via 178? Keep it light with a night in K-ville?

From Kernville to 395 is pretty flat, especially if you go on the backside of the lake to Southlake then east onto 178. It would be a great recovery ride.

Especially if theres's an afternoon tailwind?

My dad did the Tour of Two Forests once and I rode the 2nd hundred miles with him (my brother rode the 1st hundred). The afternoon/evening wind blowing back into Palmdale was road bike dreamland.

Nice hiking, too. Road's end definitely high above the valley floor.

Friday. 90% road. I've never been to the end of Shoemaker Canyon, so it'll be cool to check out the tunnels. 8 a.m. at the intersection of GMR & Sierra Madre if anyone wants to go. I think the elevation shown is a bit overstated, but I could be wrong.

Water at Camp Williams (+ a little convenience store) at mile 17 & 26-ish. I'll be riding my Giant Defy with super-plush 28mm tires. :sneaky:

I've ridden with Shawn at least a half dozen times, and every time I see him, I expect him to look like his Avatar (Will Ferrell?), and not the handsome stud he truly is...
