Conor Macfarlane wanted to be just like me. He too left Knolly and is now riding Intense. He too loves the Marzocchi! OK - all kidding aside, it's cool that Intense picked up a relevant free-rider to fill the gap left by Lopes. Fair trade, I'd say.

There have been a ton of riders changing teams and thus changing bikes this year. Hard to keep up. Which moves were your biggest surprise, biggest disappointment or best stoke?

Maybe not too relevant because he's not really racing still, but I was surprised Lopes left Intense so soon to go to Ellsworth.

I think we were all a little surprised to see ANYBODY go to Ellsworth. That said, their new bike gets rave reviews, even from one of our own.

Ellsworth can have Lopes....a rider and a bike manufacturer that I really could care less about.

On the other hand, it does seem like there is lots of movement for riders and teams this offseason.

Troy Brosnan from Specialized to Canyon - love to see anybody leave the Evil S, especially a previous and future WC winner.

Neko Mulally rejoins A-A-Ron on YT Mob. They were together on Trek. Neko is one of three 'Mericuns with podium visits (Luca Shaw - Santa Cruz being the third). That's a good move. Neko seemed to languish on Claudio's Scott team.

Most know that Neko and Aaron have podiumed on runs where their chain broke at the beginning of their race run. Aaron won in Leogang and Neko was 4th in World Champs - technically not a podium I guess, since World Champs only recognizes 3 spots.

I heard the Kate Courtney to Scott rumor right after she won Worlds.....they have been without a Women's Contender since Jenny Risveds stepped back due to an eating disorder.

Perhaps YT was spending way too much money for a small company. Granted the results were there for at least Gwin.....Neko, not so much. Given his proximity to Intense, sounds like it could work.

Ratboy going to Cannondale......meh. He is not really racing these days. Dabbles in EWS here and there, but otherwise is just making videos....that all look the same. No real reason for SC to keep him on the books.

I know it's uncool to say, but I have never been a Ratboy fan. It seemed to me that he was stoned or drunk all the time, and thus became a favorite of the partiers. He appeared to be a lazy top-level contender who pissed away natural talent. I've just never been a fratboy partier or prankster, so I don't really care for icons who represent those characteristics. I could be wrong about Mr. Bryceland, but that's the image that seems to be most admired by his fans.

That said, he could be perfect for Cannondale, who have a reputation of being an uptight company focused on dirt roadies and proprietary designs. Loosen them up a bit and force them to build a mt. bike that people will like. I know they had Jerome Clement and Mark Weir for a while, but with zero DH participation since the Missy Giove days, they don't enjoy much of a "hard core" mt. bike reputation.

Yeah, it was kind of a weird combination(SC)......Mr. Serious(Minaar) and Mr. Not Serious about anything(Ratboy).

It makes me think that the founders are looking for capital, either to expand but possibly just to sell the business. A bike team that successful would be a fun toy for a successful founder, but the next owner will probably focus on delivering more bikes. Polishing the bottom line like this is probably mandatory...

Just daydreaming on a rainy day about how sucky it would be to run a bike company....all those bikes in the office, but you’re stuck in a Taiwan motel...
