I could have sworn there was someone on here with a Rascal. An infrequent poster, perhaps. I vaguely remember high praise, but few words. I'm probably lucky that they don't make a bike that covers a base not currently covered in my quiver, as I'm really drawn to Revel for some reason. If I won the lottery I'd probably rationalize a slot for a Rascal in between the Smash and the DV9, but in the real world it would be foolish. I'd be lying if I said I didn't build one up in the Fanatik bike builder just to indulge a fantasy. T100 Silver with purple I9 trimmings. I'm still tempted to demo one just for fun, and Revel demos are comparatively cheap ($45) from Worldwide Cyclery. I could basically ride to Space Mountain from the shop.

I love this bike. It is the most capable bike I ever owned.
It enable me to ride too fast, and I'm a little concerned that one day I'll run out of luck and talent.
it is a very good all around bike. Great traction on the up and down.
I believe that someone who can actually tune the suspension can get even more out of it.

My background is XC bikes. Did one is not (a XC bike).

I'm not much of a reviewer, but I think that overall most agree that this bike is good.

I'm positive you would have mentioned an issue with the routing if there was one... :geek:

I'll try to remember to take a picture of the BB area. IMO the chainring "protects" the shifter cable and the brake hose. No issues at this point.

The Rail was at the top of my short list for replacing the Tracer before I got sucked into the long travel 29er craze. I am still intrigued with how the CBF handles chunk climbing and descending, as reviewers gush about it. Maybe I'll just buy one without trying it - y'know, just to complement my Megatower. I think they offer one in the same color. (Although that new orange is pretty hot).

After all, who doesn't have an extra 5-8 grand just lying around for experimentation!

Experimentation sounds like science, which is educational. Given your vocation I think you’re morally obligated to see that plan through.

New bike, or just new color? The coy nature of the IG post suggests the former, but maybe a fake out. Bitchin' finish, regardless.

I think if they joined the herd with a 150 or 160mm travel 29er, their sales would go through the roof. But, maybe it's their e-bike already!

IMO they made the right initial moves for a two-bike line. No doubt riders would buy the bigger 29er. In the other direction, it seems like we're figuring out that travel doesn't define a bike's uses like it used to. In fairness, some had it figured out awhile ago...

I agree travel has never defined a bike’s use, just the comfort and speed with which one cares to use it. Most of IMTB Seems to have reverted to hardtails to refresh their love of riding. And all you HT hooligans can still ride anything you care to on the bumpy bikes, and it seems to bring you great joy and satisfaction.

I think the hardtail surge here is riders appreciating different kinds of MTBs and riding, not necessarily opting for one. Speaking personally at least. I like my squish bike as much as ever, and I don’t see these guys liquidating their FS bikes. But there is @rossage...

I don’t want a superbike, mostly, for the very reason you are now laid up. Because I know I’d put myself in danger more with it, and I’m an average rider capable of random errors. Losing months of riding, climbing, guitar and maybe work with a broken wrist is not worth those brief moments of comfort and speed to me.

Power to everyone to find what they like and do it healthfully for a long time. :geek:

Sort of - the G1 Hightower not quite in the SuperBike travel range, but yes just as I was jumping on, all y'all were jumping off!

    I concur on all points.

For me, as long as a bike climbs well, I will take more travel over less travel every time. The current Tallboy, Hightower and Megatower all felt really similar at the pedals while climbing, and their geometry is very similar, but the Tallboy was quickly overwhelmed on the down. On the other end, something about the Megatower may be too demanding for a rider like me. I think either @mtnbikej or @Faust29 uttered the phrase "...too much bike..." which made me cringe at the time. But I am learning that, while geometry can be very similar, kinematics matter. Unless it's a hard tail. :cautious:

But that Revel Rail... :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:

I like it when the odometer has a 3 in front of the second number. That doesn't happen on most of the trails I ride when I'm on a hardtail, and it is even rarer when I'm behind one. The catch is that I'm always behind one when I'm on the Squiggle Bug. Oh well.

Pandering to the leg shavers! Very nice, but I’d take a half pound of frame weight for the 1.5 slacker head angle and coil shock compatibility of the Rascal. :sneaky:

The ranger would be the perfect bike for the single track I ride back in the north east. Short punchy climbing, tight and twisty with rocks and roots, but no sustained dh.

My Jet 9 with 130 front and 120 rear is one of the best all around bikes I have ever ridden. Short travel XC/AM FTW!
