We postponed the RSR this March, not knowing what to expect. We are now scheduling a version that we feel will work given the current guidelines.
This is subject to change between now and October.
We will be conservative in our approach, and will cancel if we feel that is best. We did want to reserve the date with the hope that the pandemic is receding and California is opening up. In a nutshell we are dropping the mass-start and after-party. Instead encouraging individuals to come out and ride independently or in small groups, and be self-contained. We'll tweak the course so that places to buy food and beverages are available on the route or at the end of it. Riders will need to decide what to do about that on their own. Stop by a great brewery or sandwich shop, or bring your own. It will still be a challenging and fun route, exploring our trails and back roads. And as always, 100% of the proceeds from this all volunteer event go to local land conservancies and advocacy groups. We hope you'll stick with us!

    Quoting the email:

March feels like a lifetime ago. We sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are managing everything that has been thrown at you and that your bicycle has provided a does of sanity and solace.

Redlands "Corona" Rossa has been rescheduled for October 24th, 2020, contingent on state and local regulations at that time. In order to bend to reality we have been forced to make many changes to the original plan.

    1. There will be no mass start

    2. There will be no afterparty

    3. The course will no longer include Seven Oaks Dam

    4. A digital copy of the route will be distributed, but the course will not be marked

    5. Masks (or some other form of face covering) will be mandatory

We know that this is a drag.

We know that this isn't the same ride you signed up for. If you'd prefer to get a refund and catch up with us in the spring, there are no hard feelings. Just reply to this email and let us know by August 1st.

I can say with certainty though that our advocacy work for local open space and urban bicyclists is more important than ever. 100% of your entry fee will be put to use improving and maintaining our trail system and teaching folks who rely on a bicycle for transportation how to repair their own rig.

We'll send more info as it gets closer to the big day. If you are encountering financial hardship, but you'd still like to ride, please get in touch and we can try and work something out.

    ride on,

Aaaaaand that's all folks. This is the email that registrants are receiving. All registration fees will be refunded. Thank you for the support here, and don't forget you can still come out and ride on the 24th or any other day (smoke and virus load willing). RSR is the major (and only one for BBQ) fundraiser for the three organizations below. If you are able to donate directly to any of them, it would be immensely appreciated.

It pains me to say it, but between the El Dorado Fire in Yucaipa and local rules regarding organized events in public open space, we have no choice but to cancel Strada Rossa.

Your refund will be processed shortly. If you purchased a t-shirt, that order will be refunded too.

We held on as long as we could because we genuinely believe we could have put on a safe ride. We know riding your bike and a little outdoor, socially distant comraderie are good for the soul, and to be completely frank, the non-profits this ride benefits desperately need your financial support.

    So what now?
When the smoke clears, come out to Redlands and ride the 'unsanctioned' Strada Rossa 7 course on your own.

If you're able, please consider making a donation to one (or all) of the organizations below. 100% of your entry fee will be put to use improving and maintaining our trail system and teaching folks who rely on a bicycle for transportation how to repair their own rig.

    BikeBBQ - https://paypal.me/bikebbq
    Redlands Conservancy - https://redlandsconservancy.org/donate...
Yucaipa Open Space Conservancy - https://www.chosc.org/donate

I'd love to say "we'll see you in the Spring", but at this point, who knows.

    stay safe and ride on,

Here is the planned route we were going to do on the 24th. It is a 50 miler, quick fun ride through town and onto the dirt. Back through the warehouses but stopping by some breweries. Miles two through 42 are almost pure dirt trails and roads. Hopefully the air will be clear by then, and some of you can come up for a no-host consolation ride!

Who knows what will be left by then. Freakin’ apocalyptic conditions right now. To quote my good friend Tim, “Faq it. Something cool will happen.”

I haven't touched my gravel bike in months. Just noticed the front tire is totally flat. I feel like I am letting it down.
