Rain or shine, mud or dust... It's the place to be in March! Come see our green hills and sample some of the goods we have to offer!

Quick promotional note: Registration opens on New Year's Day via Eventbrite (link to follow). Cost is going to be the same $60 as last year. The routes won't be released till closer to the date, but tentatively will have the dam climb and dirt descent similar to last year. The percentage of dirt is high over the 65 mile/6,000 route, I'm guesstimating 75%. More of a dirt-roadie ride, nothing technical or super tough, but a full day in the saddle. Good food and local brew at the finish. It will be held in conjunction with the Tour of The Emerald Necklace which is a driving tour of the area. Non-riding spouses and family are invited to come out and do this while you ride, to make a full day in the East Valley! I ride it on a graveler... although a hardtail is fine. Nothing bouncy though. Whatever you want to be sitting on for six+ hours is the correct answer. That's why I go gravel, due to the drop bars having more hand positions. This year's route miiiiight be a touch better on a MTB as there is (hopefully) a legit downhill ST trail on it, as well as some more ST that is just going to be more fun on a MTB.
Hmmmm, I might need to re-think bike recommendations...

Can you turn the rain off this year?
Though, I fear I have something else on that date, Can't find it on my calendar right now.

We will be happy to have you!

Registration is open, and operators are standing by: https://rsr2020.eventbrite.com

The Emerald Necklace Grand Tour mentioned above can be registered for at: https://engt2020.eventbrite.com

This is something new we're trying, and I think it's pretty cool. It maximizes volunteer time, as a lot of the people worked on both events, and provides a low-key way for families to be involved. Spouses/family members can ride a flat 20 mile route, or drive the route. They focus on different aspects of the town, and have some really good food/beverage provided by local businesses. It's fun! Then meet up at the Asistencia for lunch. You can then use the carpool lane back home!

What's the latest on the proposed route? I may or may not have a gravel bike by then. I'm sure I could do it on my Niner if I don't.

Glad you're considering it! A gravel would of course be best, and a hard tail with fast tires is more than fine. A full susp with lock out is great too. Fast tires are more important than the type of bike. Except road bikes... don't bring a road bike.

It's been done. I just think you would have a nicer time with fatter tires.

Haha! Didn't realize there was a 90 miler! If we do it I would want to do the same ride as Jennifer as it would be her first gravel event. Unless of course she says do whichever ride you want.

    Are the routes set yet?

We're going to take the demos out again this Saturday for a little bit longer ride. I think two months is enough time to get an idea if she can do the 100K or not. Of course she's been known to go knock out a century with little to no preparation at all.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say she'll be fine. Just be comfortable and have calories, as it will be a long day. There is one fer realz downhill you have to be on your a-game for. The rest is smooth and rolling. I'm biased, but think you'll both have a blast.

Those of you on the fence, only 200 out of the 400 spots are left. Half have been spoken for in the three weeks since we opened registration on the first. If you're sorta' kinda planning on going, we will sell out.

What's the climbing look like this time around for the 60 and for the 90? This is the weekend after True Grit, so it might work in nicely...

I've been eyeballing one of those skinny-tire death machines... :whistling:

    Tentatively 65 miles/6,000ft & 87 miles/7,800

The 65er is the good one, I recommend that to everyone.

Alternatively, as planned, it would be very easy to sign up for the 90, and just decide to not do the last bit.

Are there a lot of stingers or is the elevation accumulative? The pictures I see make it seem pretty mellow.

Only one at mile 52, and it can be easily bypassed if energy is low. The are two other climbs, one on singletrack, one paved, that are tough but sustained.
