Well, blew up a spoke on my rear wheel. Not sure how this happened, but the nipple sheared off the rim. It’s what I get for using lightweight xc wheels.

I’ve resisted learning how to build and fix wheels for years, but might need to invest in a truing stand and a tension meter

Brass or aluminum? I recommend brass. FYI my son's rear spokes were 2mm too short, and led to sheared off nipples... could be a thing if it happens more than just this once.

I've broken spokes at the flange and nipple, but never broke a nipple. Didn't realize this was common. I was worried about the spoke holes in the carbon rim, but if it's somewhat common then makes me feel more confident to fix it myself.

Alu. nipples can corrode in carbon rims. May wanna check it out while you're in there.
