If you don't mind camping and enjoy some stellar views, I highly suggest you check out the Rainbow Rim Trail along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. If I remember correctly, It's about 3-3.5 hours east of St George. The trail itself runs about 22 miles and I've heard they have added on a couple miles since I've been. There are multiple places (5-6 I believe) to park along the trail, some which are right on the rim. There is NO FEE to stay out here as it's all dry camping. We stayed at Locust Point right in the middle of the trail as was suggested by many people. That way we rode one direction as an out & back on day one and rode in the other direction on day 2 for a total of 22 miles each day. The trail ran about 150 feet from our campsite which was so close to the rim that my buddy hung his hammock over the edge.

The riding itself was 95% single track and we saw maybe 10-15 hikers and less than 5 other riders when we went in October. As you might expect with the Grand Canyon, the views are out of this world epic. Pat attention to where you're riding.

Pure beauty! I've never been camping and riding at the same time but I will say this would be a good place to start.

Well that blows away my childhood memories of seeing the Grand Canyon from a Winnebago. Time for a redo.

Just an FYI for those that don't know, while this trail is outside of the GCNP boundary, the park itself is closed on the North Rim from roughly Oct. 15th to May 15th. The Rainbow Rim is also under snow during that time more than likely. So, if you happen to head up in early May, just remember that not all the services will be available yet. Jacob Lake would be your only supply point nearby. With that said, the trail is spectacular even if most of it is away from the rim. The trail also sits near 9000', so expect to suck some wind!!
