Now I see how they can sell items 50-90% off.

Oh pricepoint. I hardly knew thee.

 

They will live on in memory! As long as my $8 tire keeps going...

 

They should have warned us. I would have helped liquidate.

 

As of yesterday.

 

They did send out an email, but by then it was pretty well picked clean. My first real disc mountain bike came from them.

 

First place I ever ordered something off the internet.

Always received great service and prices from them. They shipped same day (if the order was received by 3 PM) and some of my orders arrived the next day. Also found their house brand clothing and tools excellent for the price. Sad to see them go.

 

They only sent out an email everyday for about 2 months.

 

Yup, I ordered my first XTR Groupo from them in '97....you know, back in the day when you had to call them up, give them a list of parts from a magazine ad and actually talk to a person on the phone.

No issues with me.

Unfortunately, my $8 tire gave up the goat pretty quick.....but my other $9 tire is still going strong, and I still have a spare.

 

Ha ha! Those ads are probably the reason I wear bifocals now. The print was Soooooo small!

I have an email account I use just for shopping and signup websites so my primary email doesn't get flooded. I only check it for tracking numbers. Funny enough I have used pricepoint in the last 2 months for a new cyclometer and maintenance parts by default. My ignorance probably just saved me from unnecessary splurging.

 

I've been wondering how this is different from "Killer Dealz"?

 

Classifieds is stuff members here on imtbtrails are looking for, or selling...

Killer Dealz are great deals by vendors found by members that they are sharing...
Example: It would have been nice if someone that knew Price Point was going out of business posted it in Killer Dealz.

 

I found out in April. Never donned on me to post it in Killer Dealz. Their deals were already killer.

 

And share the $8 tires that go 100 miles?!;//&?

 

Sad to here this. Bought many of my bikes there as a kid when it was Circle Cycle. I have talked to many reps and they say the bike industry is in a slump right now. So it's not really a surprise.

 

There....I fixed it for you.

 

I see them reopening at a later date under a new name....kinda like the furniture store down the street that goes out of business only to reopen in the same location, with the same staff, selling the same stuff.

Interview with former owner on Bicycle Retailer. He'll get rich from selling the domain name IMO (and doesn't need to be for bikes). Also, their frames always seemed to be received well based on the reviews. Sadly, never purchased one.

i was thinking the same thing, he saw the writing on the wall.
Used PPoint maybe once. I typically go to the LBS for bike related items as I want my LBS to stay in business.

 

Dang it! I liked that site.

First BikePro and now this….hahaha.
