So does "STRAVA!!!"

 

Nope, they use the same course each time, so in the months before the race, people begin preriding the course and treating it like it’s a closed course only for them.

 

I was referring to everywhere, not just this particular area.

Have you never heard a fast moving rider yell out "STRAVA!!!" as he was approaching? It basically means "get the hell out of the way, I am coming through". When somebody first told me about that I thought it was a joke until I saw/heard somebody do it in person in da OC, no less. True story.

Because of that and a few other times I've experienced it, I have chosen to never get on board.

 

I have never actually heard anyone utter/scream/yell that word on a trail.

Other than discussing rides with one's fellow riders.

 

Yeah, like I said, I thought it was a joke originally. I don't blame anyone for using strava, it's a wonderful tool. But I discovered it's fault, even if it is strava's only fault, before I knew anything else about it.

If you got into or witnessed a car accident the very first time you ever got into a car, would you not be jaded to some extent? I didn't see any accidents occur due to these jackasses who yelled out "STRAVA" as they blew by with disregard, but I foresee something terrible happening one day, if it already hasn't.

I meant no offense to da OC. I have heard it yelled out in other counties since then. It's been a few years now, though. Perhaps those fools have come to their senses.

 

Yeah, I heard it a few times when it was still relatively new. Can’t say I’ve heard it except in jest in a very long time.

 

I've always been surprised they would run races on trails that are still open to the public. With all the clueless hikers and dog walkers that has always seemed like a bad idea. It wouldn't kill anyone if a few trails were closed for a few hours.

What we really need are some directional competitive loops like they have at some of the parks in Phoenix.

a couple of years ago.. I heard someone say.. sorry ..strava.. as he passed me down chutes at the lower berm section.. I use strava all the time..

Unless I’m totally missing something here, going fast is kinda part of the word “racing”. If they allow promoters to utilize the parks for, wait for it, “Racing”, then they should pretty much expect folks to go, “fast”.

That is of course if I am indeed not missing something here about mountain bike racing.
Okay, slap away!

 

They are actually talking about “mountain bike” trails. You know, the trails you ride mountain bikes on...

 

That’s because you ARE the bionic woman...

 

They close the trails on race day....so yeah, going fast is acceptable. However in the couple months and weeks leading up to it....would be racers think they can ride the course like they can on race day. Remember, these are multi use trails with lots of hikers and horses.

So they are not complaining about riders on race day... 10-4!

 

Only thing they complain about is, sometimes when I'm cheering/volunteering my jersey comes off.....

 

You want to tire out a 2 and 5 year old, make them hike 2 miles.

 

Not really into the aftermarket car scene but a customer of mine that specializes in Hyundai and Kia goodies had this steering wheel made for my FR-S. Can't wait to have it installed.

It's actually a carbon fiber overlay on ABS plastic. I'm sure that's to keep the cost down. Not going to complain. It was free.
