What's the cheapest 3x8 derailleur set you know of that works and in stock, front clamp mount top-pull?

a friend was offered a hand-me-down Walmart Next full suspension bike for his wife to ride and I've been trying to keep it running but a dropped chain busted the front derailleur, then the rear derailleur exploded and altho he was able to find the worn jockeys and bolts but not washers, it now is a 4 speed derailleur. We're in too deep, already replaced tires, shifters and grips.

Pretty much any RD will work. They take their info from the shifting mechanism. I'm sure I have both front and rear derailleur that I would be happy to give away to make my garage lighter. What size is the seat tube for the front derailleur?

Jimbowho, she's 5'2" ish? This whole mess would've been avoided had there been bikes available when they went bike shopping a while back. Now where are those digital calipers...

I forgot the bike isn't here but it looks thin like my son's bike and it measures 29mm.

I don't think these bikes were meant for riding 20 miles to the beach, should've remained as woks instead of melted into bikes...

10-4. Have a medium 87ish Stumpy. Bio-pace. Much safer, cool vintage, but too big. Can't give it away. Luck

I have a Shimano Altus rear and maybe a front depending on frame; $10 for one/both or free if you're poor.

Try Mikie first; need to know the down tube diameter and type of front (top pull, bottom pull etc) in order to check my stash.

Agreed. Need the seat tube diameter and top or bottom pull to see if I have a front derailleur.

Sorry, the info is fragmented in multiple posts.

29mm seat tube diameter, top pull please. I assume I could shim if the clamp is larger?

Microshift makes components that Shimano doesn’t want to make anymore. They make decent parts for cheap, and you can get them at almost any bike shop.

Hmmm... is that the O.D. of the seat tube?
I have 3 top pull front derailleur’s: one XT and Two XTR’s. But two are 31.8 and one is 34.9. I have a bunch of old SRAM rear derailleur’s but I don’t think they ratio’ed the same back then. I do have one XT Shadow Plus. It’s pretty beat, but would work.
    It’s what I got...

Yes, 29mm is the seat tube OD. I've taken derailleurs apart to clean up and lube but never had to replace one
so not sure what are interchangeable and such.
