Pearl Izumi Outlet in San Clemente 25% off Everything

Hey guys - I stopped by the Pearl Izumi outlet in San Clemente last night to look at some MTB shoes and they are having 25% off EVERYTHING right now, including already marked down items. Ended up finding a pair of shoes that might work well for Bikerpelli HAB.

 

I got the email this weekend that they plan to close by the end of May. I'm sure I'll be in there several times before then!

 

I'd spend the savings in gas and time just getting there and back.

 

For me, it's easy... My wife loves the shoes at Clarks, so I usually lead in with, "Honey, Don't you need a new pair of shoes? That one pair is looking a little worn..."

Works every time...

 

Never been to the San Clemente outlets (that whole development destroyed a pretty cool canyon), might have to make a trip.

 

BTW, they didn't have my size shoe so the guy ordered it to be delivered and still honored the 25% discount.....

 

The problem with these "discount outlet" malls is that they aren't discount outlets any more. There was a time when, if you drove out to Cabazon, everything out there was off-season merchandise that was being sold for 50% of original retail. Then they went to a format where the front half of the store was current merchandise, and the back half was discount. Now it is all full retail... and if you are lucky there is a rack buried in the back with sale merchandise. And if you are extremely lucky it isn't just t-shirts

I loved the Pearl Izumi store but my experience was that there was very little there that was on sale. They had a couple of racks of sales stuff in the back - and I bought a nice jersey there once and some bike glasses and gloves. But the last couple of times I visited I left empty-handed.

 

You mean there's more to the store than the clearance rack in the back corner?!?! Who knew!

Best deal I scored off that rack... 5 pair of shorts and liners for a little more than the price of one pair on Amazon.

 

I may have to take a drive up there. I bought my last two pair of chamois/liner shorts there as I wear them under the standard looser fitting MTB shorts. The were basically 20% below full retail.

As far as that particular outlet mall, the place is generally DEAD. I've been twice. I went on a weekday and I was literally one of less than TEN people I saw in the entire place. I went a few months later with my wife on a weekend afternoon and there still weren't 100 people in the place. The outlets down here in Carlsbad and generally pretty busy and SLAMMED on weekends. I sometimes have to park across the street.

 

I love their gel gloves and yeap they weren't on sale when I bought them last year, but great warranty. Some stitching came undone on one pair and they replaced them no problem.

 

If there's still anything there it might be worth checking out. Pearl is one of the only companies that makes fat kid appropriate gear.

 

I was there on the weekend, the store is still as well stocked as any other time I have been there previously.

bastards! I got a pair of shoes there last week, they would have been a steal at 50% off

 

Might need to go back this weekend.

 

Went in today - 2 pairs of shorts (one with chamois), 2 pairs of socks and a pair of sun sleeves for $87! Saved $150! Pretty stoked. Thanks for the heads up, guys.

 

I went back, 5 new riding tops/jackets, spent $160 saved about $450, now I need another suitcase for the flight home this weekend

 

Is the selection getting pretty thin??

 

I went on Saturday the 23rd and it wasnt fully stocked but still lots of deals to be had. More of the S and XL sizes, but there were M and L depending on what youre looking for. I picked a couple of medium size shorts, sun sleeves and wool socks for cheap.

 

Go to the Dakine Outlet store and buy another bag for your gear!

 

Shoes, windbreaker, and a new pair of sun sleeves... for less than I usually pay for just the shoes.

Lunch with my youngest son afterwards... priceless.

 

Shop had as much stock as any other time I'd been in there.

I chatted to the guys a bit on the weekend, Pearl Izumi are pretty much pulling out of California, they're going to have one store in Santa Cruz and thats it.
