Pages with images loading slowly

Nope...,.took me the better part of an hour to get both my RR’s uploaded last night on my laptop.

 

Right now it seems to be moving well....on my mobile w/ ATT.

 

Both cell phone and desktop are brutally slow. Smallish websites are fast. Biggish websites are slow to load, so the issue is not only here.

There are moments when things move along rapidly but on the very next click to navigate, it slows down again. Mostly very slow.

 

A bit slow here and there is all I've experienced. Site generally works great on my laptop and phone.

I am very aware of the extremely slow everything here right now.
The service provider is slammed, the internet is slammed, customer service is slammed, I’m slammed, ha ha.

So sit tight as we get through all this Fashizzle. When it settles, I’m considering a solid search for a new provider and possibly moving to a private server.

Also looking at other options for data storage to keep the site popping fresh on speed as well as considering benefits for being a member that lurkers don’t get. Having everything open to lurkers has not poured in the Newbies, so why make it all available to them?

@Mikie, lock it out to lurkers immediately. Let's give it a trial basis for a week or so to see if it helps any. I am to the point to where I might not visit here anymore until things return to normal (whatever normal is???) because I cannot open a thread at all on my iphone and 80%+ of the time, I cannot open a given thread on my desk top. I can however open the main forum page but when I try to open a page with a large amount of images, it an't happenin'.

 

The odd thing is, I don't have this issue with any other website that I visit online, including other cycling forums. I know that my ISP is playing a part in this issue though because my internet speed is jumping all over the place if I make random/repeated speed tests at home with none of our other devices on. Things are mostly normal early in the morning but as soon as the general population (who is likely bored out of their minds being locked up at home) goes online, my service slows down. It's affecting some of my TV channels as well, such at KTLA. TV screen feeds momentarily freeze up at least a few times every minute, consistently.

Holy Dial-Up Modem Batman...... We live at the terminus of a AT&T line and are over 2,000' from the junction. We always get slammed down over here. My Verizon cell works great whenever AT&T drops and vise-versa. Hey, I'm slow on my bike too.

 

This is truly maddening. It has to be the server. All other websites I visit are responding at an expected speed and functioning normally. This one stalls on any second attempt to navigate the forum. Often, I can't even get onto the site and sometimes it even signs me out!

 

I am working it.

 

So I'm on the line with GoDaddy right now and as I'm explaining to him the issue and clicking through the pages, it's like lightning fast or close to it. It's like when you take your car in and explain a noise and when the tech listens to it, it aint making the noise....
Anyway, running some diagnosis... again to try and figure out what the scoop is.

 

I noticed that this morning it seems to be running a bit smoother than it has been.

 

Sorry if I seem bitchy right now but I am in fact, bitchy right now because what few clients I have that are willing to continue service all want me there on the same day at at the same time.

It's okay. I'm bitchy too. I just got off the phone again with GoDaddy and they say everything is fine on their end. What's a girl to do.
The only thing I can think of is moving to a new Service provider. I have been with GoDaddy for well over a decade. But if they are not going to deliver as I assume they think they are then I need to start looking.

 

Interesting. All of a sudden it's fast as lightning and smooth. Faster than other websites in some cases. Did you plant your right foot deeply where the sun don't shine in the responsible party's cooter?

EDIT: But it's still inconsistent between visits. Better though, over all.

 

After a significant time on the phone discussing the issues, I have come to the conclusion it's time to seek a new service provider. I am currently looking at BlueHost and InMotion.

 

It isssss Monday morning. I would guess that means a lower volume of traffic coming through here right now?

In the last year my disdain for GoDaddy hosting my website has increased also.

 

The Hotties thread loads just fine... I checked multiple pages just to be sure.

 

Are there any recent additions? I may need to venture over there to test the website speed for myself.

 

I really like the old favorites... Yolanda, Emily, and Kate...

I've noticed that if you hit the back arrow on the browser and then forward again, it seems to help. Don't know or care why.

 

To a degree, yes I have noticed this. But, that's not how this is supposed to work.

 

Mine slows down sometimes, I'm convinced it's my neighbor hogging bandwidth with his high speed gaming .

Evening it's all golden, daytime sometimes it slows down.

 

But is it slow with all websites you visit?

For me all other websites a fast 24/7.

 

Sometimes most id not all, if it's this site usually because of lots of pics.

 

Same here. Sometimes nothing will load for several minutes.

 

Well yeah, and lots of pics are needed to tell a story.
