Ooops...afternoon ride anyone?

I guess I forgot to set my 4:30 AM alarm last night. I woke-up at 7AM this morning, well rested but late for work. I called-in; no appointments, no meetings. F*ck it, I took the day-off.
Drove my son to school, made some coffee and sitting in bed watching Seinfeld.

Anyone want to get an afternoon ride in today? Maybe El Prieto?

What's the point of paying a premium to live in California if it's just going to feel like Florida all the time now!?!

I'm not saying don't ride. It's just going to be hot.
I grew up in Florida. It's a great place to be from. What kills you there is the humidity.

Gyms suck. Thats where people ride stationary bikes and stare out the window. Go ride.

I totally agree on that. But I just go and punch stuff. Very cathartic.

 

I once caught my neighbor burglarizing my apartment in Hollywood. The satisfying smack of my fist into his eye, the blood gushing from his cut as he dropped to the floor....best punch ever!

 

Hold on.., really? I've been up there a few times and always wondered what lies on the other side of that saddle. It's now OK to ride down? If so, what do you do when you get to the bottom? I understood that that section of the Gabrileno trail was closed. So do you just turn around and ride back up? Or discretely follow the river a mile downstream until you get to the picnic area?

The Ken Burton trail is open, but the official opening is May 1.
The trail intersects with the Gabrielino at the bottom. The Gabrielino up to Switzers is still closed. You follow the trail downstream, with a steep climb over and around the dam. Then its the familiar run all the way down to JPL.

Lots of small water crossings back to JPL. The last few switch backs are also very tight-unless they opened them up a bit this last trail work day. The top is fast and fun!

 

Switchback heaven! 23 of 'em. Left and right, smooth and rough, steep and steeper.
Count 'em....Get some.....

If I could only get my mother in law to walk home from the hospital.
