OK, so I realize I may come off as a d@ck and hermit here and would like to extend an olive branch. I didn’t want to create a form for this since it’s just me riding Oaks tomorrow morning anywhere from a 6am to 7:30ish start (did I break a rule?). I ride there from my house in Orange Park Acres so if anyone wants to join me you can meet me at my house and park for free or meet me in the park somewhere and park your car where you please... or it will just be another solo ride for me and that’s fine.

I imagine my total distance won’t be much more than 10-15 miles since I have family stuff to do but if I get out early enough that can be pushed. I have to at least do 10 miles but Oaks is a good place for people to peel away if they have to.

    Medium pace (haha Adam Sandler)
I will stop as much as needed
    Some technical stuff though

@Corn, anyone that can't take the occasional over-the-top Cornhole-ishness will just have to deal.

I'd ride with you anytime, but unfortunately tomorrow won't work. I have to deal with (insert telecom name) because it's the only way I can keep the bill reasonable.

At least I'm not giving the cat a perm.

You can't promote youself to D status, that has to come from an official.

I’d feel bad if you came down for one of my weak rides. Let’s try to get one on the books soon though, I’m gaining momentum to get back to where I was before and then some with my riding.

I’d start later to avoid the early walkers but have little ones to deal with who are already delaying my start. If you see a really slow guy on a black Huffy RIP9 wearing a Sculpin jersey and cheeseburger socks say hi!

I really only expected anyone near Oaks or who had plans to ride in the area to maybe respond. It’s tough for me to have set times etc so probably not a good person to plan a ride. Plus I’m an introvert and get anxiety when I’m in charge of plans, even though at work you would think I’m the opposite.

    Anyways, have fun all..

I’ve just never gotten along with adjusting derailleurs, I get into a frenzy of “how many turns in which direction did I go?”

Oh will report that I hit that double bumpish / jump / roller thing that has claimed a few riders in days past, along the top 1/3rd of chutes today at speed... cleared it all..oh so nice...

Note to Bike Gods ... In no way am I bragging , claiming victory , or showing you up.. just expressing my pleasure, please no need to seek vengeance, humilty or equalization on next run.

1/4 turn at a time. Decide if that 1/4 turn made it better or worse and then adjust 1/4 turn at a time but shift around a bit after each adjustment to give the cable a chance to settle in before you adjust it any further.

If your bike suddenly starts mystery shifting, it's probably not your derailleur cable adjustment. Derailleur mount could be loose, rear wheel could be loose or misaligned, derailleur hanger could be loose, could have chain mis-threaded through jockey wheels, bent derailleur...

If it is your derailleur cable adjustment, get off and look at the alignment. Is the cable too taught and thus the chain is trying to climb back up to the next highest cog, or is it too loose and your chain is migrating down the cassette? Once you figure that out, you can turn your adjustment knob accordingly clockwise to slacken it, counterclockwise to tighten the cable. Two detents either way should be enough.

Or the chain is stretched or a cassette is worn or a chain ring is worn or a RD pulley is worn or a chain ring is bent or a cassette gear(s) is bent or the chain is bent or a chain ring is cracked or a cassette gear(s) is cracked or a chain link is cracked...

...but most of the time, it's just stiff chain links from a dirty chain...

Isn't this what a forum is all about? We can use our voice with others without having to mingle in a large group and attempt to be charming and interesting.
