    Eat steak the night before a ride! Power baby! Then have a Ross smoothie the morning of. :)

    Wake and bake and a home made smoothie. I guess you could call it a smooth smoothie. :cool:

    My smoothie recipe contains bananas, strawberries or apples, oj, yogurt, protein powder, olive oil, and a spoonful of honey . No more burping up breakfast for me. It gives me a lot if energy but I still try to eat every 40 min or so out on the trail.

    can you give more details on amounts for your smoothie? How far before a ride do you consume this?

    All,
    What do you eat that works for you before a big ride? How far before your ride do you eat it?
    What do you eat while on the trail and at what intervals?

    I use a large blender that can hold 72 oz. I usually add about 3 bananas, strawberries depends on size, olive oil-more than you would think but not too much, a long squirt of honey, and exactly 5 scoops of protein powder. Add a liberal amount of yogurt and top it off with the OJ. I put it inot 16 oz containers and make about 4 at a time. How's that for exact measurements?
    Drink one on my way to the ride, usually about 30-40 mins before.
    I also set a timer on my Garmin to go off every 40 minutes. I then will eat at least a bite or two of a clif bar or the like. I save Gu for the last hour(s) of any ride.

    Ross, thanks for the Garmin info on the timer, I didn't no it had one? If mine has one I will definetly use it! :cool:

    My wife keeps the olive oil in a squirt bottle. I pump it and squeeze it and keep squirting till she says stop. :lol:
    How's that for a measurement?
    Just stuff a bunch of stuff in the blender and add liquid/yogurt to get the consistency you want. I ain't breaking out the scale and graduated cylinders to make a smoothie. :geek:

    Coffee and a sesame bagel. Anything else messes up my stomach.

    Pot of coffee, banana, and an everything bagel with light cream cheese and Canadian bacon. If I drank the night before then a couple of BJ''s (breakfast Jacks) or grilled breakfast sandwich from Jack-n-Crack.
