So my question is - do the people of Kansas like the Chiefs, or hate them for stealing the name of their state?

The Missouri Chiefs just doesn't sound right though.

Maybe it's like the LA Angels of Anaheim.

Do you prefer sports teams to be named for the city or for the State? I know in the case of the NY teams, they get both, even if they play in New Jersey.

Even though my favorite professional sports team is the Colorado Avalanche, I prefer city names. Gives the team a truer sense of belonging and identity.
