Hello, somewhat of a noobie here. Bought a Trance in October. Ride the Fullerton loop a couple times a week. Looking for new scenery ,but I'm a noob. Is there a group ride page ?

    Hey @Ceb1
Welcome to imtbtrails from Mikie of Frazier Park!
Congratulations on stepping out and stepping up beyond the Floop! There are some avid Floopers here and we are trying to set up some sort of therapy for them, but most here do not, well Floop.

Check out the Trailhead Forum where guys will post ride invites. Also there is a Calendar that can give you a snapshot of what was posted in past months and what may be ahead.
Check out Ride Reports, in particular the long standing "I Rode My Bike" thread and see what guys ride day to day.

imtbtrails will definitely expand your trail inventory. I hope this helps, you have a lot of imtbtrails support in your area.

Key thing here is ride a lot and post a lot. If everyone contributes we have a fun and active site.

Hope to see you on the trails soon!

Welcome @Ceb1 ! Glad you landed here. Dig around. Read "I'm Gonna Ride Somewhere" and "I Rode My Bike Today" threads to get a sense of what some of us ride. I think the "Trailhead" posts can be a bit deceiving, as most rides posted there are big ones.

I will say that many of us here don't like big group rides, so we go off in our merry bands of 2-6 riders. Jump in. Beware of anything posted by @mike @Faust29 or @mtnbikej - they are not human and they will rip your legs off without even thinking about it. Actually, nice guys to ride with, but they don't even get warmed up 'til they've put in over 4000' of climbing. With one gear.

If you've been Flooping, the next logical progression in OC is Whiting-STT-Luge-Whiting. That's an intermediate-level, 15 mile, 2400' run with a couple of fun downhill segments, ending with swoopy cool little singletrack in a canopy of trees in Whiting with lefts, rights, dips and dodges to remind you that mt. biking is pure fun.

I hit Aliso and Wood Canyon Wilderness Park (always referred to simply as Aliso) a lot, closely followed by Laguna Coast Wilderness Park (LCWP). The two parks can be connected, if you don't object to a little hike-a-bike.

Ride a lot and write a lot. See you out there. I'll look for the new Trance.

    Welcome...

    I don't ride with newb's.

Get away from the FLoop. It is not preparing you for what trails are truely out there. :(

Check out the county parks....you can't get lost.

When you are ready, venture out into the Santa Ana Mountains.:thumbsup:

We have all kinds of riders here.

    Jump in....ride a lot, post a lot.

Welcome, if you ride Floop then you shouldn't be too far from Santiago Oaks. I'd offer to guide you but my rides are spontaneous these days and you really don't need one. Check it out sometime...

Everyone gives good advice around here... There is a lot more to life than the Floop. Just be prepared that the climbing may be like a swift kick to the groin after climbing at the Floop. Even the easiest climb to elevation in the Santa Anas (Black Star) climbs roughly double the elevation as a Floop lap in similar miles.

I'll ride with a newb! I still consider myself one... If you ever want to try something like Black Star, let me know. Fire road up and optional single tracks on the way down. Great scenery and ruins at the top.

The basic FLoop is a good, fun hour and a decent workout. It is most definitely not Monroe, Motorway, Holy Jim, etc.

If you ride the FLoop straight through then plan to join a Black Star climb with singletrack descents. That will be a good next step.

Welcome to the Peanut Gallery! ^^ What the guys said above is sound advice and I would just add
    - El Moro perimeter trails to acclimate ups and downs; venture onto Fenceline for an introduction to light technical.
    - check out Geoladders.com for trail comparison to the Floop. You can get a good idea what other trails will be like compared to the Floop (P.S. the Floop is the first trail that pops up)
    Where ever you ride, enjoy!
