Yeah, the Specialized logo runs the length of the downtube, on the bottom!
Still rocking the old GD, but I will be getting a new dropper soon
A new fork is on the horizon too.
But for now, as it sits, this bike rocks!
    IMG_20190710_110037.jpg

How to fit my old 27.2mm GD into my new frame, 34.9mm seattube diameter?
You need to shim it. Then shim it again. Yep, I shimmed the shim
Sheer madness! But no creaks or slippage

Depends on how much you pay them.

Specialized supplies a 100mm long, 30.9 to 34.9 shim with the frame. I then put a Wheels Manufacturing shim, 27.2 to 30.9, about 80mm long, in to get it done.
Works for now but I definitely need a new post with more drop. That's one thing I noticed on today's ride. I blow through 100mm of travel quick, but the seat is still in the way.

I have an e13 TRS Plus dropper if you're interested. I'm just not using it.

    Wow! You really shimmer!
    Just a suggestion...
I would pull the post and tight wrap some gorilla tape at the other end to the point it just fits inside the seat tube. It’s all tight now but the leverage of a loose fitting post is going to work that connection point where the collar is. Just a concerned thought.

The Specialized shim is quite long and extends into the weld area of the gusset, and seat tube. Not worried about movement because there is none.
Besides, I'm working on getting something... More fitting.

Gonna take a few rides to get used to the geometry but I like the way it feels at speed.
The main triangle is smaller and I need to use 22oz bottles instead of 24oz...
The dropped top tube means I can use a top tube bag without it getting in the way. A plus is the bag is soft and kind to the knees if I need to press in.
So far, I am really enjoying the Fuse!

Yep. The Specialized Chisel will be looking for a new home. Got a friend who's interested, but on vacation until later this month. If he doesn't want it, I'll put it up for sale here... And elsewhere.

Nah, you know, the Highball is one of those bikes that just felt good from the start. Classic XC geo with a 110mm suspension corrected rigid fork. It's been my go-to, bad-weather beater, and loaner bike. Keeps coming back for more.
    She's earned her spot.

Beautiful bike and nice build. I truly can’t believe you would be willing to spend money to not have a gold cassette or chain. No matter what color my drivetrain is when perfectly clean, it’s black 90% of the time.

Hope the bike is awesome and meets or exceeds your expectations!

Oh I’m not going to spend money to not have the gold cassette. It’s a take-off from my old bike and 18 months old as it is. I will keep it until it wears out and then switch over to a GX cassette.

THE most low key and delayed announcement in the history of announcing a new bike...

I subtly outed you two or three times and still nothing. Then this. I applaud your understatement and lack of need for validation!

You are busted here, Brett. I'm stoked for ya! You're the only one here with my same frame – so good with that extra reach. Enjoy

Well 2 weeks off the bike and this happened. Picked up the frame and for from @scottay and built it up while I healed. First ride back and it feels great! 29 wheels need a little more intention when steering or leaning, but just needs a few more rides to get used to it. Even with the large size and long 470mm reach, I still use a 55mm stem and 800mm bars, with the seat slammed all the way back.

Just rode mine 7 days straight in Oregon and it performed flawlessly. I’ll never win any races going uphill but that’s me and not the bike. Very comfortable seating position for longer climbs and super stable going down. Especially happy with the way it rails corners at speed.

That SB100 I have for sale would fit you perfectly Ed. And you could get it down under 24lbs with no dropper!
