    RIDE SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY 12-18

    Time: 9:00 am ROLL TIME
    Where: Quail Hill Trail Head
    Ride Description or Details:
I thought about putting together a death march for my bday....but instead decided that maybe a social ride may be more fun.....this time.

I tried to put a loop together that gives me a little of everything. Some climbing, some descending, some singletrack, some fireroad. Some techy, some not so techy.

Best part about this loop, is if you can't do the whole thing....there are places to join or bail.

Soooo.....I give you my B-Day Social:

    From Quail Hill Trail Trailhead....
Up Quail, up Serrano Ridge, down Camarillo, across Stagecoach South, up Willow, across Bommer, down Cow, up Cow, up Boat Cyn, down Old Emerald, up Emerald Cyn, down Fenceline/Missing Link, down Rattlesnake, up Mach One, up No Name to Ridgepark...down Lizard, down Laurel Cyn, up Serrano Ridge, down Camarillo, up Stagecoach to Nix.....West Canyon back to Quail Trail trailhead.

This loop comes out at 34 miles/6000' ascent.

You say you cannot ride that much....no problem.
Start/Finish at Nix and take a few miles off.
Start/Finish at Willow and take a lot of miles and climbing off.
Start/Finish at Ridge Park and just do a short loop.

I'll sort out the meet times if anyone chooses any of the shorter versions above.

See....it's kind of like a build your own adventure ride.

What can you expect??? How about a fun day on the bike. How about socializing with others. How about taking as much smack as you can dish out.

Then there is the food court a block over after the ride for grub.

Elevation Gain: 6100' w/ lower options

Already committed to trail work that day (we'll be doing stuff on Ticketron), so if you decide to add that to your loop, I'll keep an eye out for a gumby jersey, failing that, HBD! (in advance)

I was so in for this ride, up until I checked the family calendar and see that my wife has already called the 17th as hers.

Happy BDay in advance, and sorry I won't be around to socialize/celebrate :(

History is a good predictor of the future. I can now make 3750-4000' thanks to the motivation supplied by all you grinders. That said - I will cramp up somewhere around there, no matter what I do. It's not a matter of willpower, it's a matter of current physiology.

Well if you skip the ride from Quail to Willow and the ride back to Quail through Nix...you'll skip 2000'. Sounds like you are right in there.

OK. Let me look at your route more closely then.

I see Lizard, Camarillo and Stagecoach - hopefully down those. I don't know Cow Trail - unless it's also known as SOT. I see Willow. I will assume that will be a climb. I think I see Old Emerald (meh) and Emerald Canyon. I see Deer and Ticketron, but I read Rattlesnake - so that makes me smile. I may have to modify the route a little - especially rockin' some new bouncy bits!

I'm in - or at least partially in. See you at Willow lot between 9:30 and 10:00?

I'm clear as of right now but my wife and kids find ways to clog up my schedule fast. That's a 10 minute ride from my house so pretty perfect for me to join.

I'm sticking it on my calendar and hope it sticks.

I like the route.....not crazy about the late starts, and the crowds associated with it.

I'll try to make it (If I don't, happy birthday).

Yes! However, I will do a modified version of your proposed route(s) because no way in hell can I complete those stats in a whole weekend much less 4 hours.
So celebrate you're bigday, check; social ride, check; smack talk, hehehe - I'll bring my A-game.

I'm in from Quail Hill Trailhead up Quail Face to Serrano Ridge and down Camarillo. At that point I plan to head north on Stagecoach South to spend most of my day riding the Irvine Ranch Open Access Day trails (Cattle Crest, Rabbit Run, Fox Run, and Ridge Route) since they are rather exciting and typically forbidden. I will see you at the meeting location. Don't wait for me if I'm late, which tends to happen. Happy Birthday Mr. Zilla!

I was looking at the weather for later this week. Sounds like we are supposed to get a lot rain in a short period on Thursday night. This is what sucks about planning these things in Mid December.

Sooooo....I may have to shift this ride to Sunday. I don't wanna be that guy/group riding too soon after the rain.

I really won't know til Friday.

Keep your eyes and ears open for updates.
