20" of snow over the next two days means I will be sliding downhill in a different manner rather than on two wheels. this Friday.

The main weather station at Santiago Peak is off line again, but the OC Watershed data is accessible, and it shows 29 degrees at the peak right now. Three inches of precipitation in lower Holy Jim Canyon over the last 3 days. It looks like this end of the mountain got the most... The top of Motorway is only showing 1 inch for the same time.

I'll have all my extra gear for tomorrow's ride... Just in case.

Roads are not open to Mt. High this morning, although they are expected to be opened before noon. If the same thing happens tomorrow morning.... well, just saying I need exercise.

The boss has given me the green light, so I'll be trundling along for this one. Guess I'd better find some warm clothes to wear :D (and fix the puncture in the back tyre)

Good luck getting there on the I-15 due to snow in the Cajon pass. It's closed at the 215 freeway junction.

Crossed over the Ortega today around noon. Looks like they may have gotten about 6" up there. Plenty still on the ground and trees, but road had been plowed.

Weren't you planning a shuttle ride today? It sounded a little sketchy to me due to conditions, but I hope you had a good ride!!

Two riders from Rancho Cucamonga going, we're leaving here at around 6:40 so that we can be on time. Are there public parking spots in the ranger station?

Are you talking about the upper end of Silverado Canyon at the Maple Springs trailhead? Yes there are spots, but they are limited - and require an Adventure Pass to park there without risking a ticket. However there are usually a few spots available about 1/4 mile before the trailhead parking on the right side of the road as you are driving up the canyon. There are also about 6 spots at the bottom of the Motorway - but they require the gate to be open in order to access, and I can guarantee you they won't open the gate for several days yet.

I don't think there is any public parking at the Trail head / Gate / Ranger Station. Only the national park pass or whatever it is can park there. I usually park on the side of the road a bit before there. There's a bit close by where you can park of the edge of the road well out of the way. I'll be at the gate for 8am.

I wish you all a great ride, but I'm gonna skip this one. The snow is as low as I've ever seen it, and I think you are going to hit some serious accumulation before you hit Four Corners. The traverse on Main Divide will be brutal if there is 6" of snow on the ground. Sorry to be such a wiener :) Take lots of photos!!

Yep... This might be one of “those” rides. :D

And as Bonsai says, there are 6 spots at the gate that require a pass. I always park on the road, approximately 1/2 mile before the parking lot. There are many spots farther back. The only rule is to not park in front of someone’s property.

I was going to bring the single speed, but I may go with the Hightower. It’s better in snow.
