Yeah, I know. The yellow labels bum me out. And when the rear inevitably wears out before the front and I have mismatched. My OCD brain can barely handle it.

 

The yellow labels make me happy! Distinctive - iconic even. Who cares if they don't match your bike? All y'all are only buying black or gray bikes anyway. (Except @UPSed - and @mike ...THANK you!)

 

I like the yellow better but then I have a yellow bike. But - someone on this board said that if they saw my bike bike before breakfast the color would make them puke.
To each their own I guess

What are your plans for these?

It’s my go-to front tire for endurance while XR4 is in short supply. Maybe longer.

The one on the Ranger it getting down the road. I wouldn’t hesitate to run a Dissector on the rear of the SS as something between Rekon and Minion.

As quickly as they wear I figure make that shipping charge work. : )

Actually, other than Nobby Nic and Hans Dampf (which were somewhere between fine and meh for me) I've never tried anything other than Maxxis tires, so I'm in blissful ignorance about other brands.

 

Props to Bontrager and Maxxis. Not to Continental. Schwhatevers were a slightly underwhelming value.

 

I've always been fine with lower profile tires as my local trails are really hard packed and Racing Ralph or Ikons are just fine. But this last trip on the SART really made me wish I had something that would grab into the sandy bits a lot better. most of the time I'm not riding in those conditions so not necessary to keep all that extra mass spinning. But when you need it you need it, so I'm trying to find something that's not a dog for the 90% of the time, yet will be pretty good for the 10% time that I need it!

 

I don’t know about Dissector or Rekon in front, but a DHF rolls well for the bite it provides on turns. It’s drawback for me is weight, so consider the 2.3 instead of 2.5..?

 

I think that’s where a Dissector or XR4 Team Issue works well. Not for unbridled smashing but for a bump in traction (with small penalty in rolling resistance). XR3 could be a little less of a step. I haven’t yried the newest version but was impressed by the longevity.
