Well - that happened. Gonna see those PRs fall on the luge now. We did a number on it!

It was great to get up there after five days of rain and see where the water actually did go, vs where the trail diggers say it's going to go. I was really pleased with the behavior of the water on The Luge. There were very few water damaged places on the trail - the water hugged the insides of the berms and crossed the trail where it should. Existing drains (cut mostly by Jim over the years) worked well.

We cleaned up/filled the few ruts that were on the trail, reinforced a few berms, cleared out some drains, and re-shaped the trail in a few spots. You should only do tread-work after a rain, so that we did. Our little crew (myself, Jim and two others) worked from the first shady section down. A few other crews were on the upper section up to the flag and the Vulture Crags section of STT that descends to The Luge. Not sure what that work looked like.

Probably 50 riders came through while we were working, between 9:15 and 2:30. Men, women and children. They were all extremely thankful and had huge grins. They said it was superb. I brought my bike, but I was too tired to ride after hiking with heavy tools, swinging a pick and shoveling dirt for five hours.

    Go get some! :sneaky:

Oh, and a guy named Paul (a Marine) changed out the US and Marine Corps flags for two fresh ones.

Absolutely! No glop, just amazing wonderfulness. The berms will hold you from flying over the side into oblivion. We didn't dumb anything down, so there are still a half dozen small drops, a few rocks and a few kickers. A guy named Boaz made the two kickers at the bottom bigger after the last rain.

I rode it this morning along with everyone else in the universe. I got to Cooks at 7:45 and had never seen the lot that crowded before. Went on to Old Camp, and the STT had areas of mud, but nothing too terrible. I just picked up the bike and walked past them for the most part.

Luge was in great shape as stated. I especially liked the two kickers that got built back up ... I got some good air off both. There was another little kicker somewhere along the way that was not there the last time I rode it, and I liked that one too. Fun stuff.

Rode it Sunday - must have been 15 people at the flag. The Luge itself is in awesome shape - never seen it better!
