Up SJ to Bluejay CG (water), up Main Divide to LPR, across/down to SJTH. 22.5 mi/5800' with many steep ups and downs from LP Peak to SJTH. Advanced skills required to clean the DH parts; a competent rider can dismount several short, steep parts as needed. This ride is a little more about stamina than technical riding, though it packs a lot of both in 22 miles.

Meet Location: San Juan Trailhead off Ortega Highway. Look for the sign pointing you to Lazy W Ranch. There's a fire station at the junction also. The TH parking is on your left a ways up before you get to LWR.

Food/water suggestions: Moderate temps forecast and resupply halfway = no huge water load. Know your needs and be generous. Two liters for each half for me. Bring lots of whatever nutrition to feel sprightly at the finish, where the goods and HABs are, and it'll be more fun. Nutrition breaks as needed, no issue.

With the forecast calling for wind, rain and snow Friday, this ride is moved to Saturday.

Precip on LP will leave the surface a little rougher, but less loose. It should be all-time after the storm, including the climb up.

 

If the @mtnbikej ride gets pushed to Sunday, I might join you Saturday if I can get the entire day to myself. I'll check in later.

If it helps, it's easy enough to shuttle up to Bluejay CG. I reckon it doesn't save a load of time, but effort, yes. I'm up for wrangling LP however. Point to point from HJ parking, up Trabuco ending at SJTH is a way I've never done it, all ST. That would take some driving. Whatever gets us the payoff is good with me.

Update: This ride will start from Holy Jim parking area, and go up Tracuco Cr > LP > SJ > MD > TC. ~33 mi/8X00' el.

Ride is cancelled due to forest road closure. The forest gate on Tabuco Creek Rd is locked and 3-5' of mud is blocking the road at Fern Spring (area of the recent "Holy Jim" fire). The road is due to be cleared tomorrow.
