Looking for a fork, non working, for prop use.

Hey gang,

I'm in need of a used, or non-working fork that I can spruce up and use as a prop for a photo shoot. Doesn't need to be fancy, or in perfect condition and doesn't have to work. If anyone has one lying around collecting dust that you're going to toss, can you drop me a line?

I have a Manitou Sherman 170mm adjustable travel with 20mm thru axle! It’s fancy and it’s yours if you want it!

 

I have a couple of old Zokes

 

DDD....sounds fancy pal...and I'm really just looking for a give-away or a throw-away. We're going to need to decal it and possible paint it based on the shoot. If you're tossing it, then yes, I'll take it. But sounds like you could be selling that thing.

 

O- Like I mentioned to DDD....looking for throw-aways. I could probably toss a few bucks in, but its going to be resourced and will not be returned most likely. Let me know guys and THANKS!

 

Dont' know where you are @Paul Schmidt but the Bike BBQ in Redlands has a bucket full of old forks. They're all really old 26" cantilever kind, don't know if that's what you're looking for.

What happened to the age-old tradition of billing the client* for props then styling the workers with them when the shoot is done? Come on, what's $750 in the scheme of an average job?

No, no, no. An old fork is not the right look for this job. Pike Ultimate comes in a couple of lower colors, save some repainting maybe.

lol....don't think I hadn't thought about that. I'm using it for a promo shoot myself....but yes, back in the day...I would have worked it into the "production costs" and then rid the Sh!t out of it. Well played Mike...well played.

@Paul Schmidt, the Sherman is yours! I’m not in OC tho. I’m in La Verne. I head down to OC occasionally and can rendezvous next time I’m down there, or you can head up to La Verne, and we can talk mamas into watching both kids while we ride bikes up my way.

 

Now that sounds like a hell of a plan...and a raincheck (and reciprocation if you're down this way). Unfortunately the shoot is coming up Friday and I need to get my hands on something prior to that. But keep me posted when you're down in OC....ride time.

I reminded @Paul Schmidt that we ceremoniously buried his POS Suntour fork (the one that caused a crash that broke his arm on the Luge) on the side of the trail in Whiting. He suggested that by now, a mt. lion may have dragged it off somewhere.

 

There seems to be a lot of "reminders" about that damn fork and indeed, it has most likely been dragged off by a mt. lion....mostly likely one that showcases a limp on the front left paw.

 

Just came across a picture of the aforementioned bucket o' forks. Just in case anyone else needs one!!!
