Yetis are expensive. Dentists make good money and have time to ride. Somehow or another, Yeti owners are picked on (by Pinkbike readers) for having more money than skill.

I don’t understand why the UCLA marching band uses “Come out and play.”
lucky for me he bought the turquoise. This color is called “storm,” and it’s all mine...as soon as I man up and get it.

been emailing with yeti galactic HQ in Golden about a demo. They expect to be opening up in early July, coincidentally right when I’m expecting to be cleared to ride, and when I’m trying to get a week or two off...Won’t somebody please carry an XL demo in anything?

Ah! Okay. Well I’m not a dentist and I don’t have mad skills. I suggested this might be too much bike for me but I figure I’d splurge since my current bike is 2009 Stumpjumoer and before that a 2001 gt zaskar. I don’t change bikes every two years so I figure I would get something nice. I’m on the fence about the color and looking at the anthracite. Storm is nice too but I don’t want to make any enemies here

"Too much bike for me" is an interesting statement. I think that may come into play when the travel logs in at 160mm or beyond and the length and angles go to the extremes (such as, oh, I don't know, an SB 150 or SB 165 for example) but a 130 mm travel bike is not in the category of "too much bike" for anyone who rides anything other than fire-roads.

And @tick I thought the UCLA band played "The Kids Aren't Alright" not "Come Out and Play." I could be wrong, but based on what I hear HS bands playing, it's the former. Equally depressing and irrelevant to amping up a crowd to watch football, however.

They might play both, but I’ve been to enough games and heard enough Offspring—I know my cheesy marching band covers....:p

“too much bike” might mean “do I really need three low speed damping adjustments and wireless shifting?” Or in my case “If I ride this bike 3x a week for 5 years, it’s still costing $15 per ride. Is that too much bike?”

the statement really is about the travel. I mostly ride turnbull, oaks and alisso with occasional trips to the bike parks. However, I’ve done all this with a 100m and a 140m bike.

I bought the T1 build and don’t really plan on upgrading anything. It’s set. How many of us out here buy a bike and end up upgrading everything down to kryptonite bolts?

Im fortunate enough to have prepared for a good career and picked a school that left me with no debt and a wife that doesn’t care about labels.

Oh yeah, 9 weeks since I quit drinking. Saved a ton of money there. Man do I miss a cold beer with my post ride grub.

definitely agree that 130mm isn’t too much for the local parks, especially with how well these new bikes pedal, why not?

You will have a lot to relearn coming off an ‘09 26” trail bike. My old stumpy would punish me for being too far forward, and would go random directions when i wanted to go straight through a rock garden. the SB’s gonna send you straight when you wanted to turn, unless you keep your weight forward and lean the bike hard. (Your weight should actually be centered but it’ll feel wrong and too far forward for a while.)

Modern geo is super fun, but stay on top of the bike if you value your clavicles...ask me how I know.

I know what you mean. going down chutes is harsh and there have been plenty of times when I just hit a rock I can’t roll over and stall and go oth.

ill think of this sb as my mid-life crisis. Better than piercing my ear and buying a corvette. Nothing against corvettes, I think the newer version with independent suspension are pretty sweet.

    BEEEEyooootiffull!!!

Love the wheel reflectors for your safety too!

Can't wait for the first ride reports!

BTW - That M1700 DT Wheelset is great! May want to upgrade to 36 t star ratchet, but the rims are perfection. Perfect blend of compliance, strength and weight.

The rear derailleur won’t move the chain up on the second cog. It just keeps clicking. I have to shift up two gears and then down one. Unfortunately there were no mechanics on site on weekends at Jenson riverside and I’m not about to drive back.

do I need to tension the cable morels just mess with the barrel nut? It’s been a while.
