The only way I will do this ride is to set a rescue vehicle at Cooks. Ridicule away. That's my best bet against having the kinds of resuscitation or photos threatened by @DangerDirtyD

I could be persuaded to go that route if you want company. Probably start from home, though... Makes more sense for the end of the ride for me.

@burt and @Sidewalk bailed because they were overwhelmed.

Joplin is not a big ride, but it will take me all day to do it because...I suck and ride 9-mile piece of Sh!t loops if I’m lucky.

Save the mediocrity for the socialists.

I’m a troll because I don’t get to ride like I used to and I’m frustrated.

    chicken nuggets!

The threats of ridicule were seemingly not taken as the joke they were intended. (“troll”)

Dio is not that kind of guy. He’s the kind of guy that will joke about being that kind of guy. That’s the joke. :geek:

Brett, you and Chris should meet em. Nobody actually cares how you pedaled up there. Cheers... :)

From my experience demo-ing bikes recently, just using the Reverb kills the Reverb.
For those who own one, I hope that's not been your experience, but it was 4-4 on my demo rides - every one of them either failed to extend all the way, or sunk 1/2" or more when weighted.

For all my smack talk, I really should train more for this ride, lest I bonk or look like an ass HABing up Harding. Oh well...ya’ll come out and return the favor if you dare.

Thanks @mike for your support. I love you Froind.

Herzie, you are faster than me (at Aliso :sneaky:) (...and probably any bike park) so don’t fret. A stylish and fast DHer is what’s up. I just wanted to try being one of the cool kids who tease the lousy uphillers. Seeing as I am a lousy uphiller, I assumed you’d appreciate the irony. Let me be clear, climbing sucks. ...and I suspect the pleasure one gets out of it is substantially due to the fact that he or she is not in the state of fear or apprehension that comes along with dropping into a singletrack trail worth writing about. :)

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones owning a reverb that came stock on my Hightower, haven't had issues yet" after about a year and 8 months of having the bike. Fingers crossed!

At the risk of redundancy, I don't mind climbing, but I know my limits. I try to push through as much as I can, but I don't have the same priorities as the other top IMTB posters. I don't do 230 rides a year (I did 51). I don't spend 8-12 hours in the saddle, and I love other sports.

So - I will either do this ride in a manner that I can manage - that will still push my boundaries quite a bit - or I will continue to just do my own thing and let you guys keep giving everybody Sh!t for rides with less than 5000' of climbing. Funny - I left STR because of all the "Go Big or Go Home" attitudes about Snow Summit - where there was no room for someone who just wanted to enjoy riding and progress in a reasonable way.

    Viva Mediocrity!

PS: Most of the big mileage/big climb riders on IMTB are also fast on the downs. I harbor no illusions that I descend faster or better than you @DangerDirtyD or @UPSed @mtnbikej @mike @Mikie @horsebikerider @mountaingirl sara @Grego @SnakeCharmer @Luis @rossage @Voodoo Tom @scottay @Tom the Bomb @redwoods or pretty much any of the other big ride people.
