I've really been meaning to write up a full report here but been busy. In short, this was an awesome ride. It's incredible how we only saw TWO riders on top class trails that really should have TONS of riders. Oh well, our little secret I guess, it's better that way haha! Three of us went, @MTBSKI and Mark Cruz who is an OTBer, great dude and rider.

The route we rode is a classic OTB route that Martin had already planned out. Up Big Rock creek to the prison fore road climb (ASS Kicker), to Vincent Gap. Short climb to Boy Scout Trail. Bombed down that, what a blast!! From there we climbed ST up to the 2 fwy, Big Pines Junction, took a nutrition break and hit the ST climb to Blue Ridge. This is a 2 mile climb, gains 1k, and by now our legs were feeling it. Nevertheless, it is an awesome climb and the trail was in great shape, trees all around, cool crisp air, only a few hikers, I was in heaven!

From Blue Ridge we made our way to Mt High and met the Yeti, took a pic and headed on to Grassy Hollow with a short SOT section. From Grassy Hollow it was down Middle Jackson Lake where I had my sidewall tear last time I rode here with @Mikie and @Voodoo Tom , remember that? There was a large tree down that messed with the flow of the descent but otherwise the trail was in good shape.

From Middle Jackson it was up Boy Scout on to Manzanita. Martin was starting to feel it bad at this point so he opted to take the Big Rock FR back down and Mark and I hit Manzanita for the grand finale! Manzanita did not disappoint and has everything a backcountry MTBer would hope for, HAB, trees down, washed out sections, fast flowing ST, and some major chunk. Mark and I were beat and this trail beat us up a bit more but we loved it! I can't wait to have another go at this trail. Did I mention absolutely no other riders or hikers? Aaah so nice!

Total ride stats for the day were 31.9 Miles and 5663 gain. An epic ride with some cool dudes in God's country. Can't wait for the next go round!

Man, I really wish that place was hussling and bussling with hikers and mountain bikers at every turn and straight, cause thats the way I like it you know. Crowds, the more the better! I live for braking bumps! Bring on the e-bikes! Let's make the back country, not back country anymore! Yah, I can be sarcastic :sneaky:. Glad you had a good ride on the diamonds over there Cisco

Blue ridge is best ridden down!! Gotta check out Leprechaun trail sometime!
Yep , wrightwood never seems to have much bike traffic at all, mostly hikers (and nuns.....let hillbilly tell you about that). Nice report!

Yes it was thick and I like overgrown bushwacking type trails. Don't know what growth was but it sure appeared to be stinging nettle although it's hard to tell when your doing about 50mph down the trail. I'm guessing it wasn't though as we all brushed it that day.

    That's not Mt. High...

    EDIT:
Actually, it could be the beginner lift (Discovery Lift) at the top of the East ski area. I've never been on that lift.
