Dante took exception to my getting lost on Itchy-Scratchy the other night (https://www.imtbtrails.com/forum/th...-now-live-and-direct.7668/page-32#post-245817) and went back there to clear more vegetation prior to nesting bird season. I am told Itchy-Scratchy is cleared top-to-bottom but still tight in some areas as always. I'm putting it back into the rotation, which means I'll be wearing pads through Marshall Canyon. Get some soon before the Spring growth ensues!

    I've ridden Marshall and potato.
    I've booked the Claremont loop.
    Where is itchy scratchy?

And... What type of trail is it.....?

Itchy Scratchy is tight and steep. Not very rocky and not at all exposed, but clearing it without dabbing (or going OTB) is noteworthy. I can show it to you Saturday night around 11 pm if you’d like.

Yes I heard it's open, saw some strava postings recently. I'm checking it out next week for sure. This was all grins few years back until the city shut it down with a huge log up at top.

Funny, I dropped in today where the log was, now just a boulder, this was the itchy scratchy I've always known, but couldn't get thru, thick brush everywhere. But other recent postings showed the open trail just north of this, hmm, gotta revisit later this week.

The king lost his crown, took it back, lost it again this past Sunday, and here we are now...

Stallings should be receiving an email right about now, indicating he no longer wears the Itchy-Scratchy crown. Even @Tom the Bomb is no longer top 10. The progression is incredible! The competition is intense! Monkey Piss!

Has the trail changed much? I remember a few years back guys had cut corners to straight descend and get faster times. I never did that cuz I enjoyed the full trail. I know there has been a bit of work on it recently. Any idea? I am planning on getting out to it soon! By the way Eric Johnson a buddy of mine did it on a SS hard tail for that time!

I don’t know what the original route is. The trail is basically finding a path between bushes from top to bottom so the only thing keeping the route somewhat consistent is the topography. I’m sure people work on it from time to time or else it would be gone in one season. Dante has been known to trim vegetation. Stallings took the KOM back with authority.

You worry too much about rank and ride times. Otherwise, you’d play too.

On the contrary. I don't want to know because I don't want to care. At this point, it seems that dominates your head on every ride. Gotta get cups (or was it cuppies?). Who is KOM? Who is local legend? Gotta go faster gotta go faster gotta go FASTER! Gonna be Type A Tony before ya know it!

That’s why I didn’t join Strava until 2017, but in retrospect I wish I had data from 2009 onward to review. The way I see it, you care, so you don’t want to know.

I'm very competitive by nature, and I don't want to be competitive when I ride, unless I am in an actual race. So I stay away from the data.

OTOH, when I ride in a group, I am unlikely to join the "measuring" at the front of the pack. I am content to hang back while those who didn't get their fill of competition as younger adults duke it out for top honors and bragging rights.
