Here's a thread where we can post pics of damaged parts to get advice/second opinions on the future of the part in question (spin it or bin it).

    I'll start.

You can see the small ding in the rim (black area on the rim )from the sharp edge that caused this rub in the sidewall of the tire. I've actually been riding it like this for months. The exposed threads do not weep sealant. The tire never loses pressure but if I run my finger over the section, I can feel a very slight rise and I worry that the sidewall is weakening inside. I'm not sure that I would call this a slice. The rubber itself does not seem to be damaged.

Keep spinnin' it or send it binnin'?

@SnakeCharmer been dealing with a similar issue. I just deflated the tire. Cleaned the side really good and threw on some Goo. Pumped it up and been rolling the dice ever since. It seeps a little juice but not enough to drip when sitting. Sooo.... I say run that tire of yours as long as you can.

Dear Lord @Redman .... You and I have different views on rolling the dice / safety

@SnakeCharmer compared to Redman you have a brand new tire.

When in doubt I look inside

Get your hands on some of this stuff. Tire repair places use it to seal patched areas inside the tire. It looks like black tar when applied and when cured it remains pliable. Will seal seams as well

Tore a sidewall 3rd ride on a new tire. Booted and tubed it. Been riding it well over a year now. One way or another, ride it until the knobs are gone.

The dried up goo makes look a lot worse than it is. New evidence on the inner wall. Run it!

I have run boots for a long time...

Just giving you a hard time @Redman

But way I look at for me.. when I am riding hard... Pushing the edge ... Or in the sharps ... Or chunks... Or the steeps .... I want to minimize the statistical probability that anything other than my poor skills results in a undesirable outcome. $50 tire way cheaper than trip to emergency room and weeks or months of rehab.

Right now I am not riding that way ... More like grandpa... So probably doesn't matter.

On topics I just went through my drive Train part by part cause it was done.

Only have the levers. Paired them with XT785 calipers. These replaced the leaking XT levers. Same servo wave, same feel, just no on the fly reach adjustment. Picked them up for $29 each. Lov'n them!:inlove:
