Another rescue on Saturday. Haven't seen an article and don't know exactly where.
A coworker related this to me. He rides an electric unicycle wheel thing. Some from a group he is in wanted to go to Santiago Peak.
They were informed of the closure and went anyways. Apparently 2 started at BStar to go to the peak.
One guys wheel ran out of juice and the other left him and pushed on. At some point one got dehydrated and called his wife. She called 911.
A chopper came and landed but he refused that rescue because a trip to the hospital would be involved.
Apparently a USFS truck rescued them and returned them to safety. They weren't even cited for violating the closure.
Idiots are all around us.

 

There does seem to be a lot of horse rescues in OC.

Someone should just roll that thing off the side of that cliff as a warning to other off roaders who think this kind of behavior is OK.

 

Those types of things never ended well for the vehicles up on Santiago Truck Trail. I remember 3 of them being vandalized and then basically shoved over the side.
Almost justifiable, but two wrongs...etc.

Remember this one on the way to old camp just above the luge.
I dont know who would do the doo, can't quite wrap my head around that. And unfortunately the vehicle was trashed a day later. Then helicopter Evac.

Really don't know how they made it that far....dumb ass drivers. A teenager im sure...and of course I never did anything stupid a teen

Please note the aggressive off road tires.

 

Ford offered to remove the jeep at no charge. In sure as a ad for the new Bronco. It was removed by an off road group using winches and more vehicles i believe. Now are they going to fix all the damage the 4x4s caused on the illegal trail? Doubtful, they'll just trash it and leave it.

 

Ahhh, this is my life recently. Our pups bark at each other (HEY, LETS PLAY) but not much else. Every day is getting better just like newborns. Enjoy

Now they are just over three months old and starting to mellow - just a bit.... Since almost every plant is destroyed, they have finally started to enjoy their toys.

I'm sure all those Jeeps did wonders for the trails. Just to get up there, you have to do a lot of out of bounds driving over clearly marked private property and then into the Loma Linda South Hills Preserve. A lot of motos riding out there all the time, which annoys the hell out of me, but a full on 4X4... shake my head. At least their cats didn't set the whole area on fire, so there's that.

Guess it says "Jeep Trail" on there and they took that to mean it was good to go!

 

Would have been fun to ride out there for some Jeep rolling... get a few fellow mtnbikers to give that a nudge

 

I wonder if they had someone camp out there overnight to avoid that scenario?

It seemed like I had felt a number of small earthquakes over the last few days I looked it up and it turns out there have been several hundred of them in So. Cal. in that time period.

 

Yes, a big swarm just below the Salton Sea. My buddy and I watch the activity map daily. Seems to be calming down now but I believe that the same thing happened in Ridgecrest before the big ones came. And the Salton Sea is on the San Andreas Fault which is due to let loose. Fasten your seatbelts everyone.
